Can someone post some shots of the various maps/counters and the different types (2D/3D) so I can make a decision on purchase. I stayed away from this because I personally do not like the graphics shown to me in the screenshots

Thx for taking the time :-)

Judge, I don't know how to take and post screenies. But one thing I can tell you is that on my Vista machine and windows 7 machine I've had constant crashes to desktop.

If it wasn't for the fact that I love the game I would not take the time to save every turn so I won't lose progress.

mmm. Thx for posting and the info - I have Windows 7 64bit, so if it's an OS problem, then I may well suffer ctds also.

I don't like the graphics. I don't like the terrain textures and the unit chits. Even if it wasn't to crash, I doubt I would play this long at all.

Thanks for taking the time to show those.

Whilst the CTDs reported are a small concern...it's very possible it's something wrong specifically with someones system, I really don't care for the graphic style.

But thanks for the feedback anyway - it's appreciated

I am using Windows 7 x64, which did have some issues with an earlier patch, but these have been fixed and I am running with no problems.

There are many graphics styles available in the Mods and Scenarios section of this forum. I am using AgentS unit icons and have made a merge of map mods (see screen shots SOP Map Mod page 1) provided by AgentS and TH1207 which works well on all zoom scales. There is a mod by GWGardner, which requires minor file editing, but provides transparent combat boxes so that you can see through to the action as it happens. I have also changed the info text from white into black, so that it works better on the lighter coloured maps I use. It is all a matter of personal taste, but I have good looking graphics, which I find enhances the game.

Don't let the graphics style put you off as there are more combinations which might appeal. [:)]

I was trying to show an example of your NATO style icons (they make the game for me), but can't get PRT SCN to work in the game, maybe you could post an example, nice AAR thanks. [:)]

Rasputitsa, I don't know whether it's the same in Win7 but in XP I need to use ALT-PRTSCR (not just PRTSCR) to take an in-game screencap. And if you're using two monitors CTRL- PRTSCR will screencap BOTH monitors as one image.

I am sure that I used CTRL-PRTSCR in earlier versions of SoP, which I have posted in the past. It works in other games, but just now, it just saves a black screen in SoP. There are other screen capture methods, but there is enough already posted for the graphics combinations to be seen. [:)]
