Slow turn time

Post by Tom1939 »

Hi!

I just playing this game for a few days, but it is great.

My problem is, that random game turns take ages now. XL map 5 AI. Quite big unit numer on each side. A turn takes 20 minutes plus for the AI's.

My notebook I play this on is hp 8510p. T9300 cpu, hd 2600, 4 gigs of ram, 500 gigs wd black (7200) vista business 32 bit.

Now I'm guesing this AI turn making is cpu intensive. The T9300 I have is outdated, but was near top of the line 3 years ago.

Now my questions :)

1. Is more cpu power I need? Or more ram and 64 bit windows?

2. Will there be some improvements in turn times in later patches?

3. Does this game use quad cpu's (I will buy a new notebook soon)?

Thx for the answers!

You have to register the game and it is in the members' area. At least the game loading is faster. The AI was already pretty fast, so I can't say if it was speeded up, but I don't think so.There is a list somewhere that says exactly what was changed.

Thx, now I found it. Load time is better, but a turn still takes very long for the AI.

Vic could you please tell me if I'm right, and Ai turn lengths are based on cpu strength? And does this great game use quad core cpu's?

If, yes my next notebook will have quad :)

The game maximum uses 2 CPU cores. And only one of those exclusively for AI turns. But multiple CPUs are always a good idea! since your also running Windows and other background programs your self.

Good to hear load time has improved a bit... but AI turn length is pretty fine imho. Did you own original old AT?

best,
Vic

Thx for the answer.

I do not own previous AT.

It is a quite big random game I play right now, and the AI horde quite a few units. I did a recon to an AI where I dont attack. That AI had over 400 planes in 2 hexes I saw ... In those stacks there were a 167 carrier fighter in one place...

I would says 15 minutes for 5 AI turns would be ok, if it gets longer then it is a problem (it takes over 25 minutes right now). Hopefully sandy bridge cpu will be at least twice as fast as my t9300 :)

I'm a war in russia veteran (the original wir), and I do like this game supply and command system. Well done :)
