Naval Problem

Post by ernieschwitz »

I am currently working on a scenario, and i went into it to test some of it...

Anyway, long story made short:
When i move my cargo ships to a sea hex, the game crashes. If i move it from a port hex to another port hex, there is no problem.

The SFT values clearly states that it has a theatre of 1 (Naval), so that´s not what is going wrong. Anyone else have any ideas?

I reported it to Vic, both by mail and on the forum.

It seems there is an editor bug. According to Vic it is caused by deleting all research fields. (sounds strange, i know, but hey, if thats it then don´t do that)...

This may be a related issue, not sure. I have attached a screenshot of my Indochina scenario showing Thai troops who have captured a Indochinese port. Now next turn supply is not getting through 100% but I'm not sure if this is because there are Indochinese naval ships in the same area or what. Chinese forces are allied with Thailand and they have forces there as well as Chinese naval ships in same area.

I have attached another screen shot this time of China capturing Hue which is a shipyard and it was destroyed in the battle, so I had to build a port next to it, this issue is that I'm now having the same problem here as well. What I'm doing wrong or is this a issue of Naval supply not working properly.

did you consider enemy aircraft causing the anti supply points on those hexes?

Vic, the supply for the Chinese increased once the Indochinese Navy was defeated and were back in port. But for the Thai's same situation there but they still are not getting full supplies. How can one check to see if aircraft are the cause of this. I would think they could be due to interdiction of supplies. At the beginning of the Chinese turn I saw where "AKS" was causing certain amount of supply to be destroyed each turn, as well as the Thai's. Another question, if the sea lanes are contested does this not only effect supplies from reaching units but also effect oil production? I only ask because each time the sea area is contested either the Chinese, Indochinese and Thai's see a huge drop in oil production

Vic, I cannot figure out why units in a port that has been captured and all enemy ships have been destroyed are still not getting full supply. Unless it is because there is a airbase 5 hexes from the port and the aircraft are interdicting supplies, but I don't know how to tell this. On the other end of Indochina China has a made a temp port next to Hue and cleared all Indochinese units and they are now receiving full supplies. Now there is a enemy airbase but I think it is farther than five hexes away.

An easy way to figure out if the aircraft are causing the AS is to set their doAS standing order from "Yes" to "No"

i admit the engine is not very informative on the cause of the antisupply dammage...  i will think about if can do something about this in a future patch

best,
Vic
