(ATG) AI just to good for me... :(

Post by Stardog »

French vrs Arabs

This was my 5th try at that scenario, I did little better but still can not beat the AI.

Last attack AI came at me with over 100 Armored cars & 3 Units heavy artillery.. ?
I can't come close to that in production.

I guess its just if I make more units than you I win kind of a game now..?

Maybe there needs to be a AI- not AI+ AI++

Don´t know which strategies you were trying already.
But as i´m also facing the AI throwing tons of armored cars against my troops, i switched my production to light tanks & i try to build an air force (dive bombers!) early. Infantry & their support weapons are in this case completely useless & just get slaughtered (that´s my experience in my games).

Why not just post your scenario as download, so we can also have a look at it. Sounds quite interesting.

Divebombers, especially if the Ai doesn't build any fighters. DB's will shred AC's and artillery.

Also, did you try any of the infantry based anti tank weapons ?
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

Wz up!

Tried again the Even French vrs Arabs... [:(]

Do not know how to post/put in saved game pics / I think I got one screen shot loaded?...

Did like you guy's suggested - Gave up on Rifle, bazooka,ATguns & built AC's ,DiveBm ,Afew LtTnks...

I ran out off gas and couldn't fight back..!? Like 8 or 10 turns into the game and the AI was kicking out 50 to 60 AC's per turn and just killed me...

I not say the game is bad but I still say there needs to be a AI- setting. AI just get's to much stuff +Oil +Ore +Production +R&D ect ect ect ...

If anyone is beating this scenario??? Would like to hear how you did it...

Love the game but I'm a loss when it comes to this kind of stuff, its like there are no tactics/strategy it's just kick the AI in prodution and
make more than it has and you win by the numbers..??

I'll just keep playing Wet and Ocean Random games.. AI can't handle CV's so it give you a little advantage...

You could try my new scenario: Hispaniola.
It´s an evensteven game. And i beat the AI on regular setting with the Dominicans starting in 1941.

Another evensteven game that i like is the one where it´s the AngloSaxons vs. Chinese. Pick the AngloSaxons to start out with... you will kick their butts for the first many turns...

I beat the arabs with mostly at guns and infantry early to stabilize. I used quite a bit of bazookas. I also built divebombers almost constantly over the entire game and the soaked a lot of fuel. Anyway, I made a AAR of the thing, but it isn't super detailed.

Wz up Bro's

I finely beat the AI but it was Random Game ,Lg map, No roads Stone-age tech start and a lot of water 65%?< I think? ....

I was able to hold back the AI "Thank You Navy" long enough to get all may Oil/Raw up graded to level 2 & some 3's .

I then used the US WW2 Pacific Strategy..

I used all my R&D PP's to upgrade Sub's to level 3. I then used them Heavily to attack/destroy Water Supply routes & to keep ports bottled up.Then skipped/moved around Large Islands with Heavy enemy forces taking smaller islands building Ports/Airfields/Roads until I could get my Air force (Bomber Command) in striking range of AI's Main City. Then I pounded it into Burning Rubble!! Then sent in the MARINES!!!!!....

Start to finish took 5 days of playing 2 to 4 hours a day. Now that I have won the real hard work begins.

I have to spend the next few days watching Life Time TV with the Wife!!! ... But these sacrifices must be made in the quest for honor and glory!!!

I'm also getting regular kickings from the AI set on normal. It seems quite adept at production of aircraft. I sent across a large flight of Bombers and Fighters only to find an even larger amount of AI fighters waiting for them. Still, at least I've got something to aim for.

The situation would be much worse if I was trouncing the AI without even trying. At least I'm getting value for money from this game (although I do shout at it a lot).[:D]

Well the AI is tougher for sure, I could beat the AI on normal in AT blindfolded with my hands tied behind my back... not with ATG though LOL.

AAR

I just found your post with the AAR as I looked into this thread just now. It's a nice little AAR. Have you considered posting it in the AAR section of the forum? It'd probably get a bit more visibility and provide another example of how to play the scenario. It'd also give people who might be interested in the game a sense of how the AI plays.

Looking at your AAR, I think it is interesting that relatively speaking, the AI does a fine job of defending Eden, does a less good job of defending Basra. You managed to capture Basra after turn 16, but it took until turn 26 or so for you to take Eden.

Just like you, I found that the AI could put up an strong defense of Eden, but Basra fell relatively easily in both of the Golden Horde tests/AAR. I suppose that it has something to do with the area being outside of the line of attack of the primary, high production areas.
