iPad, and other tablets

Post by Wyke »

Hi guys

I have just treated myself to an iPad2 (My 4 months ciggie free treat) and I must admit to being a tad disappointed at the quality of strategy games out for it. I've just got Egypt Engineering an Empire. It's OK, a tad basic, but it is for the iPhone too.

So, I was wondering if there are any plans afoot for entering this market? Or is it deemed to be too small to bother with?

And I don't mean that sarcastically, I understand the impotence of market forces[;)]

Thank you for this! We need a dedicated thread on mobile phone and tablet game thread.
iOS and Android are beginning to become serious game platforms. I never realized 4x games would exsist on them. I am super excited about that MOO clone.

GMT Games - the board wargame company is about to launch into the iPad market with a swarthe of titles touted for this year and on including Labyrinth and Manoeuvre (plus a move into the PC wargame market as a side venture with games such as Twilight Struggle and Barbarossa Army Group South. An independent company is working on porting GMT's Washingtons War to the PC though the project is green fields for now).

Though not technically a "wargame", Days of Wonder has also launched its iPad version of the excellent game Small World. From what I hear it's doing well.
