Well as I said earlier you are clearly a good Axis player. I am however not exactly clear why you are commenting on my comments as many others have offered in some cases very obvious advice.

It is clear here that Larry has some more learning to do especially when deciding what to do on a strategic scale. You are correct in your planning (obviously) where as you have to present the Soviet with simultaneous developing disasters where they have to prioritize which disaster they will "fix" while throwing minimal assets at others. If they try to "fix" everything they will fail everywhere. Turns 3-5 are in my opinion the most crucial turns to force the critical issues to all come up at once which you have done masterfully.

I am sure Larry will do better in future games in making the right strategic calls.

I am in no means an expert but just my 2 cents once again and I will shut up for now as to not hijack larrys AAR.

No please, hijack my AAR.  This is a forum for everybody and besides, I'm getting a lot of good advice.  Um......Pelton is correct in that I'm trying to rail troops to the front and evacuate what industries I can when I can but it's hard to do everything at once.  The Soviet units aren't very good on offensive moves at this point being 1-12's or lower and they can't really prevent the German advance.  The only good thing they do is reduce the German MP's on HIS advance.  Mostly they are just throwaway units.  I don't imagine that will change until perhaps mid-winter of '41.  I thought about railing out the almost isolated dudes but thought maybe the rail might be used for higher priority items so they didn't get moved very far.  This Pelton game is coming on the heels of my disasterous Ketza game and it too is another learning experience.  I'm going to experience a few learning situations until I get better at this I imagine.  I'd really like to see Pelton play Ketza.  Maybe we can help them to see the grin factor in a game between them.

I admire your stickability with this Larry and I'm glad to see it! We all have to go through learning curves to improve and the only way we do that is to stick with it, suck it up and learn for the future. Well done [:)]

Couple of my points were that you can't run the panzers like that and not have them get worn down from fatigue, etc. They may not take a lot of losses, but they will have a lot of damaged elements and fatigue will be crazy high. If they ever get cut off, they are going to turn into trash.

Probably the best that Larry could have done (using hind site) is to work on checkerboards better and also better defend the cities with units actually in them. In addition, moving up what cav he had to try to penetrate your screens would have been far better than crappy infantry that can at best get 1 or 2 hexes max, which is not enough. That Slovakian unit should have been cut off. His path was one hex wide and when it didn't get cut off, the rest of 11th army marched right in behind him.

Tremendous moves no doubt by the Axis in this campaign. I think most of the community is rightly in awe of the maneuvering and daring undertaken. Well done Pelton [&o]

Pelton has made some well planned moves no doubt about that.

No offence to Larry but defensively a fair bit could have been done differently though to prevent/minimise some of Pelton's moves.

Is this a standard pbem game or is it being done on the server?

My flanks look exposed, but there is nothing Larry can do during 1941. The spearhead is too wide for any Red unit s to close the flanks even if they start right at the front.

If you have cavalry in the right place, it would be an issue

Staggeringly successful Axis though

It's being done on the server. And I must say.....other than not being able to save an in-progress game on your own hard drive playing turns from the server is a lot handy-er for players because we don't have to send any emails back and forth etc. Sometimes I forget to send my turns to my opponents when I do it the traditional way and playing from the server aleviates that problemo. So it's better doing games from the server in my opinion ( IMHO ).
