Oil Refineries

Post by lion_of_judah »

Question: Say I make all the sea hexes along the coast of Indochina a part of that country, then do the same for China and Thailand, can I then put a oil refinery there as a offshore oil rig or will this not work......

sea hexes can not have an owner and neither can they have locations.

The way to work around it would be to create a land hex type named "oil shale" that behaves very much as sea and very little as land and then make a loc type named oil rig. That should work I think.

You could also make a one hex island, and then make the location a port as well as a production site.

A more advanced way of doing it would then be to make the island a land type that was colored the color of a sea hex.

What I did was click on the sea hexes which are along the coast of Indochina and gave them ownership to Indochina and I placed a oil Refinery there and it worked, or rather it allowed me to add it onto a sea hex. Now the question is wether or not it will actually do as a offshore oil and supply me with oil, so we shall see.

You changed ownership of a sea-hex? How did you do that?

i was so wrong.....i was able to put the oil in the sea hex but nothing happened, I think you should be able to control the sea hexes which are right next to your coast.
