The Wraith

Post by Lrfss »

Ok, so how did the Wraith come about anyway? In respect to SG-Atlantis?

What's their background? I'm like in season 2 and still don't fully get it, as in their past history?

Their Hive ships are cool and tech is pretty good for sure.

Can't remember the specifics. You'd be better posting on the general forum or a Stargate forum.

They evolved from insects and basically feed on humans. They went to sleep for centuries because they'd eaten too many people and there was no food left. So now they come out of hibernation every now and then to cull the populations of planets before they develop to a point where they might present a threat to them.

They were really tough in season 1, but as the series progressed they became just generic bad guys. It used to take, like 50 shots to kill them, but it gradually became easier after season 1.

All in all, an underused bad guy with alot of untapped potential. Much like the rest of Atlantis.

The ancients stumbled onto a planet that had this bug species on it.  When this bug species ( can't remember their name ) stung them they turned into the Wraith and apparently were able to make new wraiths and wage INTERSTELLAR WAR.

Edit:

Actually I was a little off. Read this and it will clarify the origins of the Wraith.

yea, i think they explained it with that bug thing, to me it was not a very good explanation. too many holes in the logic and that sort of thing.

Ya, SG also gets the story across but it's spread over multiple episodes and you need some time to put it all together.

I think they evolved from bugs that kept feeding on humans, thus got human DNA mixed into them.  Not sure fi wraiths were able to turn Humans into wraith, but there are some Humans around with wraith DNA in them.

Very true indeed, you must watch multiple episodes for the true story to unfold. basically when the ancients seeded humanity on various Pegasus galaxy worlds they inadvertently landed some on worlds with the "aratus bug". people would fall victim to these bloodsuckers and die. Evidently a few survived the encounter with the bad bug and over time these few became the ancestors of the Wraith. hey,its space-opera man just go with it.[:D]

As I was warping through Wraith space near the outer rim, I received a transmission
to forward to Simulation01 that stated to thank him for clarifying their history! [:)]

I don't want to sound pedantic or something but it would be weird not to love that movie [:)]
