With all due respect DaKaSHa, it is called having an opinion on something . What's far worse than a 'fanboy' is expecting someone who enjoys the game to remain silent. In case you haven't noticed this is a forum where people discuss games. Also, I would assume that I am a fanboy in your book with respect to many games I enjoy and tout.

As for me, I really don't have much of an opinion on ATG yet as I have not had time to look into it for very long. Such is my busy life. I would say however, that the production value is not on as high a level as compared to say War In The East, but IMO that is to be expected from such a small developer. Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing what ATG IS about.

One has to be very careful in posting negative comment on wargames which has a very limited  customer base especially from a small developer

Unless you have spend many hours playing them , please keep those comment to yourself ...

It is really bad if someone that has just play a few games , have not even really finish reading  the manual and start to complaint about this and that .....

Constructive comments and suggestion to improve the game is what you can do to help out but to discourage people from buying , that is really not your call

Although I don't have the game yet, I do plan on getting it. I have AT and love it and from what I am seeing, ATG seems to be a solid step up. I don't care for NATO counters, to me they are just boring and I would rather see an icon or picture of the unit instead of a symbol.

The problem many of us have is we enjoy games in a niche market. At 54, How many more CMBN, WitE and ATG quality games am I going to see before I meet my maker? I really don't care about the virtual holographic FPS's down the road. The outlook for traditional wargames isn't bad, but it ain't bright. So we be patient, buy warts and all, or there's be nothing left for us to play in 10 years. Hope I'm wrong, though.

should the developer "invent" nato symbols for things that dont exist in reality?

Yes, I was going to ask if there was a NATO symbol for a Napoleonic ship-of-the-line!

No kiddin'

How am I bias? Do I have some sort of special stake in this games success or failure? Sure dont.

Youre a tool :P

That's the one great thing about "Empire Deluxe" from killerbeesoftware.com; the AI uses all the units in the game and all the productions and has one of the best ai's around. The graphics aren't state of the art but the gameplay and challenge more than makeup for it. I think it's only $25 too and you play against 5 computer opponents on a small map and you'll have the time of your life. The Enhanced edition is well worth it also, costs a little more but you get more units to play with and the graphics model is improved and of course the same challenging AI to play against.

I find this game outstanding in so many ways, where TOAW 3 is lacking. Game designers can never make everyone happy and that is being realistic, there are things that TOAW 3 offer that ATG doesn't but that is small in comparison to what ATG can do for we the scenario designers. This is afterall just my opinion and respect those who think differently than I.

If Empire Deluxe is your cup of tea, drink heartily. I enjoyed that game a lot many years ago. Today it is ATG for the depth of play and PBEM action.

You are correct about the Deluxe edition but not quite about the Enhanced edition. Out of the box the AI does not use all those additional units very well. In fact playing against the computer out of the box you will compete against an AI that is pretty brain dead. That's why I spent years making SoloMod. But the AI in either Empire game doesn't cheat at all. One poster is totally incorrect when he said the AI in most games don't use fog of war or cheats. I was disappointed in ATG in the way the AI was not improved much. I read Vic's page on the AI cheats and didn't like it. Plus it doesn't use carriers or paratroops. The game is very good and has a lot of potential but still needs work. The AI and GUI really need improvement. In the meantime it's still playable and fun but it's kind of at an interim stage. ATG is a way for Vic to make more money while he continues to improve it.

Just to correct, the last two Empires at KBS include PBEM. The Enhanced game can have a lot of depth and there's a mod available that provides it. Most of us play Empire because it is simple. When we want depth we can go to to HoI3 or whatever.

Amazing game isn't it ? To think I played that thing back in 1993, IIRC and it's still not been entirely surpassed. ATG is more fun to play for me now but there are some things that ED still does better.
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.
