PWHEX Data Differs?

Post by Yank »

Just starting a new PBEM with my Japanese opponent - first turn file he sends me I get the following message: "PWHex data differs. Continue? Y / N"

Can somebody tell me why that happened and if its a problem please?

We are using beta: 1108K9 from April 24th

It means the pwhex he made his end of the turn with is different than the one you have loaded.

Sorry, is that a part of the program code? If we're using the same beta version shouldn't that be the same?

i think i know the problem - its not terminal - the game has been updated straight from initial release version and then straight to the new beta - somewhere along the way there has been a change to the map in an official release - the game needs updating with the official releases and then patching with the new beta - so they can be syncronised can you give me the date of your pwhex file?

Ok I just found the file in the game directory and I can compare notes with my partner, maybe try to figure out how this happened. Probably something dumb I did...

What does this file do? I see it has a .DAT extension.

What does this file do? I see it has a .DAT extension.
The file gives information about the map hex and the surrounding hex sides, such as the terrain, road, rail, water, river, etc.
Thus having different pwhex files between players can change the outcome of a turn.
