This is interesting, seems its Islamic tradition to be buried withen 24 hours of death so Bin Laden was given a quick funeral and buried at sea.No photo's of body to be released as he was shot in the face. And the body is gone. Why would they give him quick funeral? Why give him such luxury?[&:]

They wear headcams during these kinds of raids, so there is more than a photo out there, they've probably got video of the take down itself. The only logical reason I can think of to not release proof of death is to frighten his cohorts into thinking he is perhaps alive somewhere spilling the beans to US intelligence. Shake them up and see what happens when they scramble like rats to cover their asses.

So with the headcams,we can determine who killed him and who gets the $25 million reward.Or maybe the SEAL team will split it?I hope the US govt pays them and doesnt try to weasel out of paying.

Yes, this is strange! This will only lead to more questions and conspiracy theories. His carcass should be displayed, so I can see where the billions in tax money went. This whole situation absolutely reeks of lies and coverups! We The People will just have to accept "big brothers" word.

Why would they get paid a reward?

Since when does the US military pay such to its members for doing their job?

The Rewards For Justice Program, United States Department of State, is offering a reward of up to $25 million for information leading directly to the apprehension or conviction of Usama Bin Laden

What's so strange about it? Part of what seperates us from them is our respect and tolerance for other's religious customs.

We often delay burial for exceptional cases (criminals, victims, etc.) irregardless of religious customs. They could, at least, have allowed neutral and non government people access to the body and burial. Maybe they did, and I'll hear later. But, unfortunately, I can't believe what my government tells me about anything.

AFAIK ditching people into sea isn't a Muslim religious custom. They probably just got rid of the body so that there wasn't a cult around it.

Osama Bin Laden is the most evil man in history.

I rate Hitler at number 2. ( if Hitler had not killed 6 million Jews I would have rated Hitler 4 or 5)

-

There are a lot of better candidates for number 1 in history:

Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Attila the Hun, Idi Amin Dada, Robespierre, Leopold 2, Pol Pot, Vlad Dracula (the real guy), Ivan IV and many more...

Military personnel are not eligible for rewards. But I can guarantee you that the guy who took the shot, got all the reward he ever really wanted out of the deal... mission accomplished & no losses. He and his team didn't do it for the money.

dont forget the other crimes of hitler like his massacare of the polish elite, his "komissarbefehl" and his "guide for the war against the sowjetunion"which caused ovder 13.000.000 dead sowjet civilians.

even without the holocaust hitler would be my #1 evil man on earth. on place 2 comes stalin close behind hitler, then mao and pol pot. socialists from right and left share the "top 4".

and on topic: the death of bin laden is a good news for all people who love freedom instead the idology of the politican islam.

I second this! Nice thoughts. Plenty of other "heads of the snake" to take out but, it's a nice start.

In the lake of fire UBL is carrying the water to Hitler and Stalin. It's steam when it gets there. ... Oh well.

Can't show the body - it was shot in the head. Don't have the body - it was buried at sea. Given respect for rituals of the Islamic religion by "burying" the body within 24 hours of death. RESPECT!??? The world needs proof and the question of respect is a joke....how can you claim respect for the dead when the dead in question is the alleged #1 terrorist in the history of the United States.[/align]

The point is to show that the US respects Islam as a religion but condemns a criminal. Not respecting the muslim laws for deads would only cause trouble for nothing.

After all it was a wise decision.

If they didn't throw him into the sea, an islamic state might have demanded the body to build a place of pilgrimage.

2. How stupid can these people be? They get eternity with 72 virgins... who wants to spend eternity with 72 women who won't put out?

I assume the same stupidity as those who believe in the TALKING SNAKE story, or in the hippie who could walk on water...

Westerners can be just as foolish.

But you can safely bet the team will never, ever, have to buy a beer in any spec ops bar for the rest of their lives.

Somewhere in Islamabad there is a Pakistani informant with $25million, loading his family on a plane, heading for a change of identity.

Muslims are against shrines and statues. The reason is that the people might worship these things instead of worshipping god.

So, none would be built.

In my view the body should have been sent to Saudi Arabia and let them deal with any backlash.

Yes, a show of honor and respect well earned.

...contrary to the experience of Lt. Col. Hal Moore immediately after the Battle at X-Ray, Ia Drang Valley, Vietnam, in late 1964. Exhausted and filthy after three days of incredible combat, they finally made it back to camp where they entered a base club for some adult beverages. The bartender refused to serve them because they were dirty.

I think Moore took out his pistol and placed it on the counter. He and his men were served.
