Opponents Wanted Whilst U Wait

Post by petergarnett »

Anyone interested in playing the original CWiF whilst we wait for the main one to be released? You can still buy it & play the full WiF game with almost all options to RAW7 (aug 2004).

I haven't played in years & now lack the space for the maps so wanted to use this to get my eye in again without having to read all the rules.

Cheers

I thought the old CWIF was no longer available. I had it but stupidly lost it when I upgraded my PC. If it is still available for play I'd love to have a game. Otherwise, where are you living for joining in a board game WiF session?

I've only just bought it from ADG ($20) so it's definately available.

Live in the UK near Gatwick but just don't have the space anymore to play multi-map games plus this version means I don't need to rules all the rules which is always a benefit!

It automates all the rule calculations etc if that's what you mean. So if I select a unit or stack I can only move to legal places within movement pont range.

The optional rules to about 2003 are there. Missing is any AI opponent, later expansions, and the only scenarios are Barbarossa, Guadalcanal, and the full WiF campaign. Also the hotseat moves are not password protected so multi play would be based upon trust.

To me it allows you to get familiar with the game without having to set it up for months!

Of course once the Matrix version is released I'll move to that.

It is playable but there are a few omissions and to make it work the players need to make some decisions for each other to reduce the amount of emails. Not quite standing orders but a lot of reasonable actions regarding intercepts and when to discontinue fights etc.

Hey Pete, what do you think of the WIF computer game? Do you like it? I have been playing it for about a year now, I have never lost yet[:D] If I did I would have to have myself before a firing squad[;)]I almost lost once but I was able to turn off the computer just in time[&o]of course my adversery [me] is not too smart at being a commander. I personally like the game and I have been using it to learn the basics of WIF which I have never played as a board game. After reading ADG's posts about how long it took Chris [ADG's programmer]to complete the game, I think 7 years with no AI, I feel I owe Steve an apology for my impatience for wanting the game yesterday, I don't know about PBEM though is it possible to play it? I see the game is $20 US. I bought it for $15 US. E-mail below.

Hey Jose how are you? It does enforce rules not sure which ones because I have never played the board game, but it won't allow you to make mistakes in naval operations, ground movement and air movement, it is a very good primary tool for me in trying to learn this very complicated game [rules wise]It is easy to play even though I am still hazy about sea boxes and oil production and other things[&:]I have learned the hard way how important HQ's are.
