Scenario Update: Anzio 1km version

Post by Telumar »

The scenario version (2.02) that came with the patch has actually been done under the old 3.2 version of TOAW. I finally updated the scenario to TOAW 3.4 to the current scenario version 2.36. It also can be played with the new supply rules now.
Direct download link from my blog: http://sites.google.com/site/toawzone/s ... ects=0&d=1. It should also be available at Games Depot and at Rugged Defense in a few days.
The download is the 'full package', not just the scenario file, as i edited the equipment file and updated the scenario specific graphics. You may note that the scenario, scenario folder and equipment file are named after the scenario version. This is to avoid screwing up ongoing games and will result in a parallel installation.

What has changed?

New Scenario Variables:

- Supply Cost for Movement: 40
- Readiness Cost for Movement: 40
- Combat Density Penalty: 200
- Entrenchment Rate: 70
- Engineering Build Rate: 150

- MRPB is now 3, Attrition Divider is 20

- I set Electronic Support back to the default of 33 for both sides. The change in Electronic Support in 3.4 is still somewhat obscure to me.[:(]

New Supply Rules

- The Allied Beach Supply is now traced across arid terrain, no more deep water. This means that the coastal artillery can no more shell the supply units. But normal artillery now can and aircraft still can, too. The arid terrain tile has been modded to resemble he look of deep water.
- Used the new supply level feature for supply points for Allied beach supply and for various map edge locations for German supply.

Equipment Database

- Corrected various shell weights, slightly reduced AP strength of the German s.MG, localized more German equipment (i.e. Wespe SP Gun is now 10,5cm PzH "Wespe").

Map

- Expanded the map a few hexes east of the important objective Valmontone.
- Used the new placename fonts.

TO&E,OOB etc

- Added American Anti-Aircraft units: 433rd, 451st, 536th AW Bns and 216th AAA Gun Bn. Most of these enter in garrison mode around Anzio/Nettuno/X-Ray Beach.
- US 1st Armor Div unit proficiencies raised to 75.
- 4.FJ Div unit proficiencies lowered to 70, formation proficiencies lowered to 75.
- Units that are scheduled to withdraw do no more reconstitute.
- 3.PzGren Div now enters the map in the Valmontone area.
- All German artillery formations have been set to 80% supply distribution efficiency to reflect ammunition shortages.
- Deleted 26.PzDiv's SdKfz 233s - replaced them with Italian AB 41s.
- Added ferry bridging teams to the US 3rd Inf Div's divisional engineer companies.
- Reduced personel strength of 29.PzGren Div's and 1st FJ KG's infantry companies.

Theater Options

- Changed Allied shock levels for the 'historical opening'. They are now 90% on turn 3 and 95% on turn 13.
- The theatre option for the early end will now appear already on turn 40 instead of turn 50.
- 4.FJ Division TO comes now with a small VP penalty. This is 1 VP each 2 rounds for each TO until the historical arrival date of the formation. I have done this to prevent gamey use by players. It was fortunate to release all formations already on turn 3 and bring them in better supply so that they can build up faster, no matter if one needed the units or not. The earlier a TO is used the more the German player has to pay. Note that the FJR 10 option is the potentially most expensive TO as the loop will end on turn 30. As a compensation I added a reward for not using a TO: Any unused TO rewards the German player with 10 VPs.

Bug fixes

- German re-ocuupation event for Velletri had wrong map coordinates.
- VP loop with a German air TO fixed. Additional reinforcements in Littoria sector fixed.
- Fixed a bug that caused the re-occupation event for EEV locations to trigger when the German player took back such a location in the same turn he lost it to the Allied player.

Graphics

Scenario specific graphics are now in png format. (Don't panic: The old bmp format has been retained.) I also added variations for the popular JMass bmp mod and my mod.

Well done, Stefan!

Time to clean my scenario files, eh? Good thing you've named them 'correctly', LOL!

Note that the version (2.35) i sent to you some time ago was screwed. Somehow, i don't know how (maybe due to name similarity?! [&:] - i changed the names in the meantime), the 20mm and 40mm AA Guns that were intended for the naval vessels made it into the Allied AA, AT and Artillery units that used the land version of these guns... resulting in naval movement type for these units.[:(] Must have happened between 2.24 and 2.35. I played a game with Ogar (v.2.24) and we didn't have this issue.

I forgot to write that there is still no PO. Unless Ralph surprises us with even more event slots this won't be possible (hint, hint..). Would still require an awfull amount of re-writing.
