Where were they heading?

Post by Speedy Gonzales »

I am playing the grand campaign as allies against AI, it is december 20th, 1941. I just sunk a japanese milk cow fleet a little north east of the french frigate shoals. 7 AO + 2 DD. What were they doing there, right in front of my home base? A day earlier, Midway got bombarded by some cap ships including two BB but surely even the AI wouldn't place a replenishment TF CLOSER to the enemy [&:]

Heh, I think I sank the same replenishment fleet, 3 or 4 months after PH, but still stooging around just to the north of PH. I didn't bother with navS around PH in the begining and instead had them training competent pilots, but the minute I turned some on there the AO's were.

I suspect the AI had them there for replenishment and then forgot about them after they were no longer needed.

The AI more than likely got tired of all of the clicking involved....

I guess it is a glitch in the AI. Since I found them (north) eastof Peral I was thinking they might be used for refuelling the subs off the west coast but seven AO sounds a bit to many tankers for that purpose

Also I'm pretty sure subs don't refuel underway.
If you gained knowledge through the forum, why not putting it into the AE wiki?

KB tends to make some fancy movings for several days after PH, but it could be glitch in only one of possible AI scripts.

I am sure, you can not manually refuel subs underway, but I surely have seen SSXs sometimes got fuel after turn, in enemy ports, where my fleets passed. But I can not say what exactly need to be done, for them, to refuel.
