ARMY GROUP CENTER
END OF TURN 4 OVERVIEW

So eager were the Soviets, that they abandoned part of the river line, in favour of encircling 3rd Pz Group.
2nd Panzer group eagerly exploits this mistake, and with the help of one PzCrps arriving from AGN, everything west of Smolensk is now encircled.

ARMY GROUP SOUTH
END OF TURN 4 OVERVIEW

In this sector, the advance of our troops is equally impressive, but mostly due to the fact that the Soviets have retreated well behind the river. Meanwhile, stubborn Soviet troops isolated in the first week continue to offer resistance.

I have never seen that...and the Soviet generals should all be shot. Possible Finnish activation on turn 5?

This one could be a victory in 1941...

Unreal. Obviously Manny is riding in the lead tank into Leningrad. [:D]

Now comes the fun part of trying to keep that panzer division alive. Going to have to capture ports fast in order for the supplies to get through to Leningrad. That is a very narrow corridor and will easily be cut. How well it gets cut remains to be seen, but that one panzer division is way, way back there. I don't know if moving in there will unfreeze the Russian units or not. If not, its gonna be really tough. What will help is that huge area will flip and should make getting the rest of AGN up to help easier. Iron crosses for sure for those guys.

Interesting what you are doing with 11th army. Most would head towards Odessa with around 2 corps or so just because Odessa can be a tough nut to crack not to mention rail repair considerations.

Russians have to be reeling after that turn. Wow.

I feel bad, my opponent is already considering to give up. I am trying to convince him to at least play till the end of winter, but I guess we will soon find out whether he resigns or not.

Feel free to pm Swifty with words of encouragement to convince him not to give up [:D].

Although my opponent hasn't officially resigned yet, he has changed his nick on the server, disabled PMs and is not answering emails. My finely honed battle instincts that allowed me to capture Leningrad on turn 4 now tells me that Swifty won't finish his turn any time soon, so I am looking for a new Soviet player.

All I ask from my opponent is that you won't quit before at least playing 50 turns and that you don't mind getting featured in an AAR. Please post here or pm me if interested.

Well, fiva55 did destroy my 51st army. And my 52nd. And my 43rd. And my 1st Guards. And my...well, you get the point. Soviets losing full armies or *shock* Leningrad ain't that uncommon. Soviets in 41 didn't do alot better! If swifty reads this, fight on, reorganize, wear him down, it's not a lost campaign.

And most likely you (i.e. Soviets) will prevail in the end... [;)]

That's a shame... but what can one do...

Nice AAR BTW! [:)]

And even in 1942, before the Stalingrad stunning success, the Red Army had totally lost seven armies [:)] War must continue.

Best luck on your next game, fiva55. Very entertaining AAR [8D]

But loosing Leningrad with all the industry is pretty crippling for the Soviets, and in turn 4 also demotivating.

I had a game against Swifty & suddenly his name changed I thought it was a glitch so I guess that game is dead. I would be interested in playing you I have one GC going on against Ketza so I think I could fit another in if you are interested quite happy to play random or non random weather your choice & I promise not to resign until I am just on the outskirts of Berlin. Server game preferably not quite got the hang of PBEM

Quitting a game is one thing but changing your server name is a whole different level of defeat. [:D]

No way is it crippling, DAMHIK! But it is demoralizing, especially on Turn 4...
