Stupid question: how do you turn off grass?

Play the game where it works best for your system. If the grass doesn't affect your system that much or you want it on map then leave that setting on. It's whatever works best for you.

FNG press the K key to see the hotkeys for the game. Grass is backspace I think.

Nice one - thanks!

Also a general thanks to everyone for their fast responses during the demo/release period - quality stuff :)

Yes, that system is fine, but if you're actually playing at 1920x1200 resolution that's probably what's limiting your FPS. You can play at that resolution, but you'll want to turn some of the other settings down to get good performance. The good news is that as we optimize the engine more in the future, those compromises will gradually become unnecessary.

I will look into dropping my resolution. I just hate giving up all the COOL eye candy [:@]

Eye candy doesn't make a game play better....just look better.

Besides, think of it this way, when you upgrade machines you will really get a bonus!! [8D]

Remember, this is my old computer. I get 60 plus fps to 35 fps on my work Win 7 24 GB of RAM work machine (I work from home). The XP machine is now my gaming rig. It's just weird how I can run lots of games at 100% on the XP machine. I think my bottleneck is the NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT - 512 MB graphic card. I have this issue with the modded version of "Tiger vs T-34". On this game I get 60 fps on the boxed version, but only 12 fps on the modded version. The issue is the game uses an older game engine. Tiger vs T-34 is a cool sim. [:D]

I have to say that what HSG did in the past with CMBB and CMAK will be nothing compared to what we can do with PC and the Map Maker and editors that are included in this game! "You ain't seen nothing yet!", certainly applies to what HSG has planned for the PC series starting very soon.

Exactly what I was hoping for. This game is about to write history, of that I'm sure.

I played the CM:BN demo while waiting on this to download and I just hated all that bocage. All I really saw was tracers going out of one bocage into another, plus I played it RT to see what all the hype was about and it felt like playing Company of Heroes or TOW and didn't feel like Combat Mission at all. All my tanks got destroyed because I was busying trying to assault and take a damn house with my infantry (this is why RT sucks). So, needless to say it didn't impressah me much.

Once I get used to this command system I'm pretty sure PC:O will be the cats meow. I already like the demo play (had to turn grass off but no biggie about that).

To each his own, but I have both demos installed and I find that each does a very good job of representing their respective combat environments. I don't think the Allies were too happy about fighting in the Bocage either :)

I now have two intelligently designed authentic war games to satisfy both my tactical level east front and west front desires, based on my mood!

CMBN gives one the option to play RT or WEGO. I always play WEGO. RT is too much of a click-fest.

I'm playing a campaign for 1.Pz. D. I've started in august 1943 (first battle) and the second battle starts in september 1943. The landscape looks like autumn allright, but all the vehicles have winter camo already. Needs fixing, I think.

Apart from that I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. Turning into a PCO addict in no time. The game needs a lot of mods to smarten up, but I'm sure people are already working on them.

Yes, I agree that needs to be looked at.

The winter skins shouldn't probably take effect in Russia until LATE September! [:D]

Or more likely the first part of November. [;)]

It's not a big thing, but I want to post as many useful findings as I can. Not to moan, but because this game is a rough diamond and has enormous potential.

We don't look at it as moaning. We look at it as telling us some of the things we missed. There was a tremendous effort put into PCO. But even as much work as went into it we couldn't do it all.

For the most part we try to be realistic and understand that we will miss some things. Hopefully they are small things but still they are there. We can use all the help you guys can give us.

We appreciate the comments when you find things that need adjusted.

It's already been put in the list of things to tweak for the upcoming patch...[8D]

Your willingness (and that of your colleagues overhere) to listen to the comments of the gamers is precisely why I have such high expectations of this game. It is already fun to play, but it will get much, much better in time. I've played for hours last night and even convinced my lovely lady to go shopping today, so I can have some more time to play....[:)]

Feel a bit guilty about that, but all is fair in love and war...and she already knew the real reason before I finished my sentence...[:D]

Two more questions before I'm jumping the fence.

First thing I noticed is, that I can't give move order in certain situations. Happens in example when the unit window shows 'engaging (moving)' or 'defending (not moving)'. They're neither supressed nor firing, I chose command vehicle and also play Axis (in regard to coc delay of Sovjets). I don't see the pattern here (and allowedly didn't read the manual yet).

Another thing would be that several hotkeys are not working for me, i.e. F12 doesn't toggle trees and shadows.
