Tell us about the scenarios you are playing. What do you think about what's in the game.

Good Hunting.

I'm some-what embarrassed to admit I still can't rush my squads across the open ground in the first Bootcamp scenario. Is the Bootcamp campaign on Youtube or something? Would like to see how the experts tackle the scenarios.

Did you use smoke?

Thanks

Hm, doing some videos for those Boot Camp scenarios is not a bad idea. The entire key to that one is using smoke and getting the timing right though. Each Boot Camp scenario is a puzzle and once you get it, it will be easy from that point on.

I've been using smoke but not at all effectively. :) My approach now is:

1. Position infantry along tree line.
2. Call in smoke mortar on Cemetery (Open Sheaf)
3. Infantry wait in woods and suppress enemy if possible waiting for smoke.
4. Rush toward cemetery 1 round after smoke is active.
5. Get suppressed/pinned/killed from all angles.

Check and see if your infantry has smoke as well.

I've been having one squad throw smoke into gaps. Maybe I'm throwing it too far. This is where seeing what you guys do would be very helpful.

Hi Das123,

I'll replay it this evening and see if there's some more specific advice I can give you. The main thing I remember is that where you place the smoke is important, allowing the smoke to build up before moving is important and choosing the right movement order and the right path through the smoke is important.

Thanks Eric. That would be great.

I've started a random battle now and this seems much easier. I guess I thought Bootcamp was the next extension on the tutorial and wanted to ease into the game-play. I haven't played PCK for a long time but Ostfront appears to be light-years ahead in all aspects. Very impressed with the pathing in particular (not sure if that was part of PCK but if it was I mustn't have used it). Ostfront is looking like a game that is easy to play but difficult to master, which I think is the perfect combination for strategy games. Well done to all involved.

Um, no. Pathing was reconstructed several times and yes, it's very much better now.
