Another thing is the templates. They are not fluid. The original ones were done my hand. Placing possible infantry and tank locations on a map. The map maker now automates that and then the map designer has to go over it to make sure no tanks are in impassable woods and such. There is only so much room on a map. Therefore there will only be so many placement locations. If the RBG buys more units than the template has locations for, it will crash.

I'm not positive but I think now it actually gives you an error message telling you that it can't place the units on that map. At least I seem to recall getting that message once.

Thanks

Yep that ^ is true since I just got that message twice when trying to make a 1000point per side infantry game in 1943 and 1944 on the first map in the template.

So basically we are in the blind of how many points we can use with the type of setup we want. I thought this was a 5000pt maximum random battle setup ability game? Now I have no clue what points I can use without TRIAL & CRASHING to find out for each particular year and season. That kind of sucks.

Try something smaller and work your way up. You may have not liked a 5000 point battle anyway.

Actually I think the Random generator is limited to 2000 pts. if I recall. The Scenario editor allows you to go up to 5000 points.

No one has verified that this is a memory issue. thats what I'm guessing, but that doesn't make it so. If does turn out to be a memory issue though, then we should try to find a more graceful way of handling it. And as I suggested earlier, try a 200-250 point battle if you want all infantry and see how that works for your sytem.

well, that is more than what I have. so it might not be memory, since I seem to be able to load the last 2 of your scenarios.

I'll keep looking.

EDIT: actually our video memory is about the same, i have 1gb dedicated and maybe 1 gb shared.

Thanks

And as I suggested earlier, try a 200-250 point battle

I don't understand why I need to do that when a 500 point per side battle in 1941, 1943 and 1944 WORK!? It's something with 1942 and 1942 only. I've been making 500point per side 95% to 100% per side on the SAME map the very first one (glucow1 or something spelt like that). It's just those 1942 scenarios at 500 and 1000 points that aren't working correctly. So that doesn't make sense that basically the same units are on the map INFANTRY and they work in 1941, 1943 and 1944 and NOT IN 1942 on that map!

You dont need to do that.

Ill keep checking to see if I find something else then
