Squatter, why don't you simply play against someone who accepts these rules? It's just easy [:)] Just for the record, when Moscow was threatened defensive lines were ordered west and EAST of the city. This should tell you something [;)]

Larry, you are an endless AAR writing machine! [&o]

Well, yes, you're right, but that's kind of what I mean: I don't think the Axis player can be expected to do any better than Pelton in this game, it's simply not possible. Yet despite that, the game is designed in such a way that the Russian army bounces back in the space of a couple of months. Which means there is no feasible way for the Axis to win this game short of 1945. IMO, that shouldnt be so. Of course this goes back to the old debate of 'what would have happened if x,y or z' happened which no-one can answer. But as far as the GAME is concerned, a victory on the scale of Pelton's should trigger an auto-victory in my book. Otherwise, WitE is a game that runs to 1945 no matter how well the German plays.

My russian opponent hasn't given in despite my taking leningrad, moscow, tula, belgorod.kursk, kharkov donbas cities + kerch which I'm holding at start of blizzard + rostov and vorisholovograd taken but given up. This included taking I think every factory in these cities apart from kharkov tanks, plus lots of other factories en route. R casualties 3.8M vs about 450K german. I'm hoping production and manpower losses will emasculate any blizzard offensive but shall see.

As I see it I have to get an auto victory next year or face a pounding for the next 3. IMHO ideally the game should always run to '45 absent serious mismatch. That's why I play GC. I should add I think my position was due to opponent not being used to playing as R + trying a strategy that didn't work in the end not a mismatch

I have a question for the German players--how do you know what industry you've captured? Can you see what industry is still in a city before you take it?

Yes you just mouse over the city using after using the little factory Icon button. Although in our game I have no idea what I captured because i kept forgetting to do it.

And this is the T43 front lines before any Soviet movement. You can see where Pelton has done another one of his
pocket-the-Russians move near Stalino. I'm going to lose a bunch of units in this one.

Don't look now, but another thrust is fixing to happen out of the area just south of Kursk.

Be careful Larry he is about to pocket everything from Stalino to Kursk. You have no depth to your defence. You have nothing to lose if you fall back now and leave a few units behind to slow him down.

How do you manage to take these screenshots of the front from one end to the other?

I do a cut and paste of three different images of the front lines and glom them together in MSPaint and save it as a file. It's easy really but time consuming to do it that way. I'm not sure there's any other way to do it actually. I've seen in AAR's where the poster has three or four different shots of the front lines and that works too it's just that I like to see the whole thing as a seamless picture. It's a holdover from my TOAW AAR habits where I'd cut and paste the entire front lines together from a game of FITE just so I can get the BIG picture. If you know what I mean.

I do it the same way. Somewhat fiddly but works fine. The larger the screen you have the fewer shots you have to glue together.
