What level of skill were your pilots? Fatigue/

It does sound strange. It does seem there are attacks that avoid CAP...
I had 25 planes (in theory) that were said to intercept 8 nells attacking a surface fleet.
Only one plane made contact and damaged 1 nell. The nells put 1 torpedo into a prewar BB and the magazine blew up.....

Thrilling....That said I assumed somehow there is a routine that allows attackers to avoid CAP sometime....

political and strategic mistakes live forever". The authors were refering to Japan but the same could be said of the US misadventure in Iraq

one of those examples when the game just jumps out of an ongoing battle for no obvious reason it seems, been there too... there are still many flaws that can´t be explained, just recently the rest of the IJN fleet parked a couple of hexes away of my 1600 carrier based ac and I´ve launched exactly 100 bombers that dropped some bombs for no damage. You just have to live with it, it won´t change, no matter how strange it is. You better just don´t comment it when you see 500+ carrier based ac going after a single PB or ACM, if you comment it, you critisize those that shall not be critisized and you usually get a "nice" answer that those ppl who post on the main forum are mostly jerks anyway who have no clue about the game nor what happend in real life. Have seen several sweeps when hundreds of fighters (yes, mostly from failed escorts, otherwise the sweep wouldn´t be that big) tried to engage more than a hundred of enemy fighters and after two ac shot down the engagement was promptly over for no obvious reason.

try to avoid Cap with a 53 min pre warning time [:D] Not that I would expect the IJ raid to be annihilated but there should be serioulsy more ac shot down.

I've once lost 95 % of KB's bombers in a one carrier battle in 1942, so I don't think it's really off... [8|]

ok
I do not understand how your 42 kb experience is relevent to this thread about BORKED 44 results..

Battle results vary greatly. Sometimes we loose 95 % of planes, sometimes just 10 %. You really cannot expect a Turkey Shoot every time in 1944. Or maybe you can, but I don't.

Hehe yeah, the biggest mistake in WitPAE is to think in terms of 'always' and 'never'.

ok.. you guys are of course correct
BUT I had a HUGE overwhelming advantage in planes! more fighters than his whle flight.. and they seemingly did not intercept them! and if the flights turned around fine. .but they, at least some, pressed into the mass of overwhelming odds..
lets say you satack up three great cl.s era 1944 against twenty bismarks.. regardless of how good they are these three cl are goin gdown.. total hands down.. this is the kind of results I saw here.. a totasl effort fighter cap meltdown..
I am not being dramatic.. this is so, " the guys rolls a granade down the slop and ten tanks blow up" outsde the bubble.. we could just play rock paper scissors if we wanted to, but after 1000 hours or more each my pbem friend and I, as well as all those interested in this game deserve better..

The key is not to waste them, and put myself in situations that favor me. However, I am starting to run out of those situations with the Allied Locast moving every where.
