Resolution question

Post by ankh morpork »

Hi there,
so I downloaded my Ostfront copy and fired it up. I was expecting the game to support very high resolutions like pretty much every other game does. However, this game seem to be capped to just one screen.
I can select 1920x1080 which is what one of my screens can handle - but since Im using Eyefinity I want the game to span over all screens. Is there any way to override this limit and get the 5760x1080 I need - or will I be stuck with just one screen forever?

Best regards

One thing I dislike with the game is the fact that you can't select what forces you want. You seem to be stuck with the ones assigned to the scenario. You can ofcourse remove forces, but you cannot replace them with anything else but the ones you removed.

We can do that. Which resolutions do you want, just 5760 x 1080 or others as well?

That varies by scenario and campaign. Some only give you a set force, others allow you to pick and choose. The whole game is quite open as well, so even in the case of those with a set force, opening up the scenario editor and changing it to what you want is quite straightforward. Does that address your concern or are you looking for something else?

The kind of troop purchasing I'd like to see in the game is similar to the one in CM. Where both sides get points to buy the forces before deployment starts. But perhaps thats what You've got in some of the scenarios. Just need to find out which ones got it.

Either way, the game looks great! - is there any way of highlighting your troops btw? So you can easy spot their locations? I.e make them all shine out from the map if you push a specific button or similar? (I know I know - I proberbly should take a deeper look at the manual!)

Yes, absolutley. Use the "K" key to see all the hotkeys. You'll want to hit the I key twice and the U key twice and you can also increase unit size for visibility.

Most of my scenarios are based on an historic event. I pretty much know what each side had. My whole premise for my scenarios is to put you in the commanders boots on that given day for that given fight. With that in mind I give you what they had. Or as close to it as I can determine.

When I start doing campaigns I'll add more optional units. Scenarios can have optional units as well but you are more likely to find them in the campaigns where you have a set of core units and then some that support them.

You can set optional units to any scenario or campaign if you design them that way.

Hope this helps.

Yeah I thought that might be the case - but since me and my brother kind of enjoy making up our own campaigns in these games and love to suprise each other with unexpected units. I'd love to be able to buy units for every map.

However, I wont complain since I now know how you were thinking :)
