Frame Rates

Post by DrJimSok »

Playing PCO on an AlienWare laptop w/ 256 MB RAM Video Card and all other systems specs reasonable. Machine is relatively clean and fast, but I'm still only getting 7 - 12 FPS even w/ all settings at their minimal (detail, size, textures etc.). Where do other folks stand wrt frame rates and are there options/techniques to increase to something more playable.

Other than that... I'm thinkin' this is a great game.

Hi DrJimSok,

Could you post a DxDiag for us please? That will give us a good starting point to estimate what kind of performance you should be seeing. Also, performance can vary widely across different scenarios. The two scenarios in the demo are good starting points and are also in the full game. If you use the F1 key as soon as the tutorial loads and as soon as Novyy Rizadey loads, without changing your view, what do you see for FPS?

Regards,

Setup w/ 1024x768, 60 Hz, 32 bit, Low Texture, Low Detail:

Tutorial:  FPS (no camera moves or other changes) = 8 - 37 on the extremes, but generally between 10 - 20

Novyy Rizadey:  FPS 15 - 35 on the extremes, but generally between 20 - 30.

I'll work on the DxDiag next.
