Ai problem ?

Post by crazyjohn »

Been playing this game against a single ai(just ai difficulty) for a few turns now and noticed to begin with the ai did attack my lines alot but recently all of a sudden most of the ai units are out of supply and left blowing in the wind even though i haven't captured their cities or cut off their supply is this a bug because its happened to me in 3 games now in a row and the ai never seems to give out supplies to its units again once this has happened in game?

Yes I've noticed this too from time to time, guess the AI outproduces its supplies, I mean the AI builds too many units to supply them to 100%.

I think the combination of a lack of casualties and the large ammount of factories the AI has built is causing it to have some minor supply issues. Ideally at the size of the army this AI has it should get instructions to stop producing stuff in its factories. (at the moment the AI never considers not producing anything at all at a location) I'll be looking into this issue for patch v2.05.

thanks for reporting.

Vic

Vic is right, ofcourse. I noticed that it happens much more frequent in ATG than in AT, that you stop producing units in your factories because they use up too much supply. Human players do this, apparently the AI can't see this problem coming...yet.
Holding your production lines happened to me in AT only on very large maps and only in the later stages of a game.

Ah, this explains why in my current game against 3 AIs, where one AI has sat on the sideline a long time, now that it has declared war on me, many of its units are out of supply. It has a ton of units. Well, it did as I've slaughtered a bunch of them.

I do have a question for you, about your random game, more specific the Third Artillery division. Why did you put 25 Art pieces in it? You do realize that 25 guns in an Arty unit gives a massive Artstack penalty? The max Art number is 100, so that's a max of 10 Art pieces. You could create 3 units out of that one... or what I do, create Art units consisting of 5 guns each. So I can use two Art units at the same time without a penalty... or use one for a different target.

Didn't know about the atkstack penalty tbh.

@Vic off topic but is there any news on if the template unit system will be added in atgold the micro management really is killing the game.

I´ve noticed this trouble in Bombur mod too...I thought it was a specific bug...maybe it would be possible to build supply factories (light industry or something like that)

Allow captured locations to produce supply (possibly at reduced effectiveness) instead of PPs or both. I expect that is what is confusing the AI.

give it a try and see if it resolves your issue.

i think so.

Hi, Vic, could you tell me how you fixed the trouble? I was considering to allow factories to produce supply (simulating spare parts and even replacement vehicles used to restore an unit readiness) and pp (industries does a lot of research). But maybe it will result in conflict with future versions of your game?

no i would never repair an issue in a way that would screw something else up :)

no worries.

basicly what i will do is make the AI make the correct ammount of supply and stop production of sftypes in factories when more supply is being consumed then can be produced.
