Turn passing slows down to a crawl

Post by Ghost Matter »

I'm at turn 280 of my game, I have LOADS of colonies and passing a turn takes a few minutes, it gets stuck on "Allocating Resources". It still works fine but I just alt-tab out of the game and browse the net in the meantime... [:o]

Is this related to my computer or does the game just have trouble with big empires?

I seem to have won that game before the end for some reason (total domination?) so the problem is fixed for now.

If you control more than 60% of the galaxy, you win. [;)]

Then does anyone that once controlled this much territory had trouble before that point?

I can't remember anyone aiming at that goal in a big galaxy. Most try to be number one in usually 500 turns. I have a couple of games with 10'000 turns limits but i am far from having so many colonies as you did. [&o]

How many colonies did you have before winning and how big was the galaxy? I guess this may be because it would require more Ram then what you have.

I am having the same problem but only Walden Forest gets hung up on allocating resources. I have 16 GB of ram, lol.
