Is it possible that my units and armour stops when spotting an enemy?

it often happens that one of my tanks recon an enemy tank for few seconds while driving alongside a gap in the terrain. but at the end of the turn it passed taht gap!!!

You need to order the unit to the gap. You can use SOP and change to cautious and then Advance and maybe it will stop, maybe it will withdraw too.

dear mr madrussian: would it be poosible to introduce such a function in the first patch? for me its the biggest showstopper compared to CM:N.[8|]

What you want is a Move To Contact order I think?
