As players we may remember to use Army HQs, but often forget the long reach and added value of having a Command HQ in the area to get that bonus.

Quiet after all the action last turn. We have several TF chaing down their subs off Rabaul, we aren't getting much luck, on the other hand we have safely moved many important convoys through here without being hit.

So we get a couple of DD's and an AP, and badly bang up the POW. We loose 19 Zero, 10 kate and 5 Val. They loose around 14 F4-4 and 13 F4-3. 5-6 enevmy CV's are detected (based on the airgroups) including a Brit one.

We can fly in some more CV trained Zeros to make up losses... so we are going to go for it next turn... they are in a slight better position support wise... but we have a total of 10 CV's 2 BB's, 2 CS, 2 CA , 1 CL and lots of DD's... Only about 450 aircraft total though...

If we win we will certainly be safe for a while...

If we loose then we won't be raiding for a bit...but they don't have the ground forces available to counterattack us, and the rest of our shipping is well away... so will be a very intersting turn...

Just hope the PoW burns out from fires...

Well it was interesting... Instead of a CV battle in the Pacific we had one off Ceylon!

More detail to come but a Brit cv had one torp hit, Japanese two (35 float)
And both lots of air groups decimated (actually much worse than decimated).

In the Pacific we sank two DD the BB tf is in range and the enemy CV TF fled at high speed.

Hiyo is 35 Float, Junyo only 6 CVE Unyo is fine. Very disapointed how our Zero's have gone in this (and other) battles... they die easily

Our strike aircraft are largely destroyed, as are theirs. We move the Kate unit of Unyo and replace with 27 Zero's to give us more fighter coverage, and we will fall back towards Port Blair. The Kate airgroups are flown to Rangoon to rebuild, the Vals are left on mainly for ASW.

Burma
They are pulling the bulk of their ground forces back, leaving the 7th Indian at Akyab. They have moved in fighters and 1 and 2 engine strike aircraft. We sweep and bomb from the air, with around 1:1 casulties... if not a little more against us. We contine the ocasional CA/CL bombardment run casuing light damage...but a number of BB's have arrived in the area so next few turns should see a bit more action...

Our CV TF safely makes Singapore. In 10 days it will be fully repaired and ready for sea, along with about 6 CA's that are doing upgrades... then we can really own the Bay of Bengal.

More troops have arrived, and another Div is a few days out. Supply was critical, but is now increasing nicely. Forts are all 3, building to 4.

DEI
Around Padang we are now digging in nicely, fi=orts are 3 and climbing... but there is only limited combat power (200AV in the centre, 100 at Sabang, 200 at Palembang).

On Java more arty is arriving, along with engineers. This is freeing up the engineers organic to the Divisions and I plan to recombine the 18th Div in a few days. Bandoeng is starting to gather real damage so an attack is planed in about a week.

Oil andfuel is flowing out, enemy subs are thick but are largely being supressed.

Singapore repair yards have been increased. A BB Tf (with the Yamato) will base out of here soon...

OZ
Dawrwin is bombed daily and continues to be 100% damaged. They have given up sending small xAKL as we kept sinking them...

They have recaptured Nookanbah and Derby, but lack the force to take Broome back... I'd like to reinforce and counter attack...

The B-17 appear to have left the East coast, maybe before we took the Pacific route out of commision? Or they are just resting somwwhere. Port Moresby is fully open on the airfield, but the port is still 100% damaged. We plan to reinforce shortly.

Our subs have been very active around Melbourne and Perth.

We hope we have them worried here and that they are drawing in AIF replacements for the Militia units, rather than rebuilding the 8th Div.

Pacific
Canton Is was trashed, sinking another CL (Hobart)... the DD's got away and we couldn't find the BB... KB has pulled back and refueled. It will soon head off for repairs and upgrades, its been at sea fore most of the last 6 months.

We have succesfully pulled out of Fiji. Then entire operation was pulled off with minimal losses. We are building up luganville as a back base to Noumea and Fiji. Suva is heading towards level 6 forts. they other main bases are 3 or 4.

Tulagi is the jewel in our crown, Lunga is starting to build.

Rabaul is full of "stuff" of all descriptions from BB's to engineers (and icecream machines taken at Suva).

In the Central Pacific garrisons are well established, although supply is limited. Tarawa, Kusaie and Ponope are our key locations.

NORPAC
No action, our subs are reconing and keeping an eye out.

China
Apart from air attacks it has been relatively quiet. We are moving forces around for another thrust.


The battle of the Burma border will really begin to heat up, we both have significant and relatively equal naval forces in the area, our air forces are both we set, capable of defending their bases, and land forces are likewise similar. We appear to have turned the corner for the Battle of Akyab and will destroy a lot of aircraft there... we now need to turn this slight tactical advantage into something more significant...

The 4 divs from the Pacific have now slipped out of Rabaul heading for a new destination...

This appears to close the airfield as no fighters rize against our sweeps, and our bombers come in getting more aircraft on the ground. The bad thing about bases like Akyab is there is no rail lines to get the damaged planes out. They are stuck there unless they repair.

What are the forces at Cox Bazaar?? A landing here would be nice, if it could be done. Another more daring move would to take a base on the rail line from Chittagong back into India to cut off his supplies. You would lose the troops, but force him to garrison some of those smaller bases to ensure that paras don't do cut off supplies.

Thanks, Cox's Bazaar is heavily garrisoned, that is where the 6th Oz div has gone... so no joy there...

We have plans to drop on bases such as you have identified... however they need to be syncronised with some other actions... looking for opportunities... we are seeking an operational effect, not a tactical tactical one (we probably can't pull of a strategic outcome any more).
