Tarhunnas, have you thought about Moscow? [X(] The Panzers in the north might turn southeast... It's a possibility. I don't see anything there between Moscow and the fascists [:)] The southern pincer would be the fascist panzers in the center. Maybe I am sniffig a lot of glue, by the way [:D]

This would be interesting to see. I've always wondered about that path to Moscow. But then it would consume a lot of troops for flank protection.

Yeah, this is part of the guessing game that Pelton (or any Axis for that matter) likes. Gassed massed panzers with a lot of different directions to go.

A push on Moscow without clearing out those large areas in the rear will reaaallly string out flank protection.

I would be interested in seeing your unit loss and OOb screen to see how you are faring from that aspect.

I would be happy to post that. However, this is a server game, so I have to wait for my turn. My opponent is thinking over the latest patch, so we are having a little pause for a couple of days. Also, he has a couple of Finnish divisions that are apparently frozen. BTW Andy, is that something you could fix in the dev team? See: tm.asp?m=2816900

With PBEM games I usually do a save before I end my turn and send to my opponent, then I can use the save for planning, writing AAR and such. I think someone suggested the ability to save "dead" files from server games. That would be an excellent function which could serve the same purpose.

At this time because of patch 1.04.22 I am going to have to stop playing this current game. There are issues with stuck Finnish inf divisions and HQs also, but these would not have an effect on our game unless I took Leningrad. At which point we probably have to call it quits anyways.

The patch has zero effect on games that are past turn 15ish( playing 3 others currently), but a huge impact on game play before that. I state my reasons for this on this thread -

tm.asp?m=2818642&mpage=1&key=

Tarhunnas has played a very good game so far and has been a general pain in the butt, which has made the game interesting todate and fun. This will make my game play better. Iron sharpenth iron. Thanks for the short game.

I started playing this game based on the last patch 1.03 like the other 9 that I have or am playing. My play style is for 3,5 or even 7 turn pockets. Thanks to Tarhunnas good play I am several turns behind in the center an south, but was ready to make a big move. Unfortunately with the patch none of these moves are there.

Option 1 is a right hook, but with the patch thats just not possible. The 20 mp to a HQ has me at the very limits of the HQ build up and I haven't even started the breakthought yet, which means I breakthough then have to wait around several turns for supplys. Tarhunnas being the good player he is would seal this off.

Option 2 would be the Northern panzers attack south and the center panzers head north. Again this wouldn't work because of the patch.

Option 3 would be to have the central panzers head south and the souther panzers head north. This is 100% out of the question seeing the railhead in the south gets nailed for 6 MPs just to cross the river below Keiv.

With the current rules I would have to open up totally different in the center and south. The right hook in the north is now 100% out of the question, so sending extra tanks north is a waste of time under the current patch. I would have to take 3 to 4 turns to ajust my forses to the current rule set in the current game.

Under the current set of rules the first 3 turns of the 41-45 campiagn are not effected that much. Getting over the river south of Keiv, Pskov and getting to the land bridge is still NP for an average GHC player like myself. The HUGE problem is your stuck at this point and way out of range of HQ build-ups and ok supplys. You can clear the map, but the rail heads are slow. The Dnepr is a HUGE HUGE supply problem. 6 MP's to cross for supplys out of only 20 mps from the railhead to the HQ's. This is a huge problem in the center and south. In the north with LT woods and rivers once past Pskvo this is again a huge problem.

Also I would like to say I have 3 other games on going one with Larry, I have the upper hand in that one. Which Larry has admitted himself.
Another one that I am playing is at the 3rd Blizzard turn and I thk its a draw so far. The 3rd one is at the 2nd blizzard turn and my enemy has the upper hand. Not putting down their names out of respect for them, other then Larry because he has an AAR ongoing. They can comment if they like. So I have 3 games that could go on for months which is what we are all looking for.

So I am not stopping play because I feel I am losing ect. I got hit with a patch that included a major nerf to HQ supply, that by the way was thrown in at the last minute as Sabre21 admits in the thread that the link goes to. So it was not even play tested at all.

I guess kswanson1 puts it about right on that thread also Quote: I think patches are coming to fast and furious for play testers to actually weed through impacts that rule changes and code changes are having upon actual head to head game play. This becomes extremely frustrating for the gamer who has invested hundreds of hours into a particular GC only to have a new patch suddenly skew ongoing play as a result of either coding errors or inadequately play tested rules changes.

If they need playtesters I am sure many of us would be willing to play one game on the side to help out.

Thanks for the game Tarhunnas and sorry I am forsed to stop playing.

[8|] You were neither forced to stop playing nor were you forced to upgrade to the beta patch.

There I was, viddying the horrorshow bitva between two chellovecks, when it felt like someone clopped me in the gulliver.

Nevertheless, great AAR for anyone wishing to learn more about this game.

Well done Tarhunnas, good game, but kind of a lame ending I have to say.

We were playing under the understanding that we would use the latest beta. Both Pelton and I have other games going, and it would be impractical to switch between different versions, so not upgrading wasn't really an option.

Actually, it is quite easy to run 2 versions. Just install the game again in a new directory, and update that one to the latest version. Add the new shortcut to your desktop, and you have 2 versions for easy access.

Anyway, nice work Tarhunnas. A game well played, you definitely teached Pelton the lesson of flank security [:D].

Hey, as long as Tarunnas is fine with it, no big deal.
