That pitiful thing wasn't 35" inches long jeff. Sorry. Now that Long Lance that CB posted...that's a catfish. If it doesn't weigh more than a 1960 VW beetle it ain't a catfish. It's a crappie. Pronounced cra (SHORT A) pee for those drunk midwesterners who think an A vowel ever sounds like like Aw Shucks. It doesn't. Ever. Period. End of story. Go home Yankee redleg because you haven't a clue about southern English. [;)]
....as a matter of fact it was...and we did catch Crappie in the same pond. The kind that are pronounced Crawpee btw [:D]Life is tough. The sooner you realize that, the easier it will be.

RE: THE THREAD!!!
Sir, there are no such things as crawpee in any North American water hazard. There are crappie. There are catfish of unusual size. There are bluefish and brim. There are bass and unfortunately Asian carp. But crawpee? No sir. No such animal exists.

Nice fish. One of the best tasting fish I know. Better that Bluegill (sunfish), Bass or Catfish (yes I know taste is subjective). And, much better than most sea fish, although White Sea Bass and Halibut are pretty good.Haven't had any in many, many, many years. Once my dad ran into a school in Lake Mead (40 plus years) and scored a bunch (we called it a good mess) of 2 to 2 1/2 pounders.
Thanks for the memories.
Note, when I was a little child and I'm talking from 5 on, my favorite food was fried fish. I was a pro at eating them, never having a problem with bones. Mom taught me how to feel for the bones with your tongue and if one did get pass eat some doughy bread.

RE: THE THREAD!!!
Grew up on fried fish myself. Dad brought some Halibut back from Alaska when I was a kid...fish was fish then. I love catching largemouth, I have yet to eat one though...
