There is no need for a compass on the mini map. It's in standard orientation. The top of the map is North, bottom is South, left side is West and right side is East.

Unless someone makes a map with a different orientation than that it's already in standard map format.

The main map is different and I've started adding labels to my maps that address which direction you're looking at.

Because you can reorient the main map in any direction you choose.
