Pelton (GHC) Vs Arstavidios 1.04.28

Post by Peltonx »

AGN: Everything is going as planned. Pskov taken on turn 2. SHC is pulling everything it can back, seems to be the general tactic after the 1.04.22 . Why fight when u can retreat.

All the production units are still in Leningrad. On the first 2 turns I have over run Destroyed the 4 Heavy an 4 AP’s in Minsk.

AGC: To land bridge enemy retreating.
Production in Mogilev (3 HVY and 3 AP) was with drawn.

AGS: Again enemy retreating.

AGS:

I was able to croos the Dnepr on turn 3. I could have crosses just below Keiv, but figured it would be better to cross closer to my RH so I could do HQ build-ups starting turn 5. I expanded the bridgehead an started clearing areas on my flanks.

I am thinking that doing HQ build up's on turn 4 would be better, but I have to save that for the next game. Not sure its possible, because I would need to have 3 infantry divisions close on turn 3 to fill the front out on turn 4. I beleive it be possible to do 1 Corps if I plan better next time around.

Turn 5

AGS: 1 HQ build up. Cleared flanks and built up bridge head for next turns attacks.

He has been railing out production as best he can, but next turn I will be putting pressure on many different production centers. This will also hurt him bring up more troops to front. As long as I am taking what he gives me each turn I should have units to bag and production to destory.

I will also have allot of pocket options and production option in the coming 11 turns.

Turn 6

No pictures I forgot just short up-date.

Total so far not counting cut off production units. Destroyed: 9 HVY and 9 AP

AGN: Leningrad rail system cut off on turn 6 - 8 HVY and 15 AP cut off.
9 divisions bagged west of Leningrad.

AGC: 13 divisions bagged just east of river. 1 Panzer Corp HQed up.

AGS: 6 infantry and 6 panzer divisions over the Dnepr now. D-town rail lines cut 5 HVY and 15 AP bagged.

I will have pictures for end of turn 7/start of turn 8 before moves.

I fully expect next turn to be about closing pockets in the north and south.
The center will be pushing hard again.

Basicly fully up dated now.

Looking like Arstavidios is Pelton's latest victim.

Well done sir!

End of turn 7 before turn 8 moves.

1.5 million kills so far.

Destroyed: 9 HVY and 9 AP

AGN: Leningrad rail system cut off on turn 6 - 8 HVY and 15 AP cut off.
On turn 6 I pocketed 9 divisions and wiped them out on turn 7.I resealed pocket on turn 7 an almost have a small pocket to south of Leningrad. I am sure he will
get allot of these units out, but he will not be able to redeploy them across river.

I have allot of really strong units pocketed in or north of Leningrad. I am not sure if I will take panzers and drive to take ports or pull them all out to AGC to drive for Moscow. The running for the hills tactic only seems to help me get my infantry to the front faster with close to 100% ToW.

AGC: Bryansk 3HVY and 8AP cut off.
I also had a 13 Division pocket bagged on turn 6 and wiped out on turn 7. Panzers then advanced and pocketed Bryansk.
1 Corps HQed up on turn 6. Marsh is also almost cleared out. I have several options here with panzers high on fuel.
Drive for Moscow/Tula or turn north and try for a large pocket. I will have 2 or 3 turns before AGN panzers arrive and I start driving for Moscow or clear everything to south. I will have allot of INF corps in position for another major O in a few turns.

AGS

D-town cut off was cut off on turn 6 - 5 HVY and 15 AP.
1 Corps HQed on turn 6 and then another on turn 7.
Z-Town evaced on turn 6.

Again I have allot of fuel and allot of sweet targets close by. Infantry is starting to arrive in force now.
Several options next turn.
Attack north for large pocket or attack towards both Kharkov and Stalino. I don’t believe he can come close to evacing both not even considering the ones in center I am close to.
He also is very thin on troops near the front and should be considering bring up more units.

End of turn 8

Losses are at about 1.6 million.

As of turn 8 I have destroyed 16 HVY and 38 AP. I also have another 27 HVY and 72 AP pocketed or cut-off for a total of 43 HVY (18%) and 110 AP ( 29%) on turn 8. Arstavidois has been tring to rail out what he can and bring troops to the front.

AGN: Leningrad is sealed off and I have moved 1 Panzer corps toward AGC.

AGC: I took some chances and went all out for towards Moscow, Tula and Orel. Arstavidios has cut some units off, but they have done their jobs. I should be able to free them up, then push for Moscow. I have allot of time left. I will get infantry to front, AGN's Panzers, do some build-ups then head for Moscow.

AGS: I have made some very nice gains here quickly and dropped allot of production units. There are many more units close by.

As far as my winter lines go I am just a few hexs away and expect to start digging in very early. The Panzers will head north soon to straighten out the lines and pocket whatever is around. I send 1 corps into Crimea if needed.

All most forgot, HQed 1 Panzer corps.

Masterful job sir!

A ton of industry and especially armaments in the bag. Lot of territory to flip yet, but plenty of time.

I think I've seen this kind of drive before.  I would be extremely interested in seeing what happens with the roles reversed ( with Pelton handling the Soviets ).  Maybe you ( Pelton ) might want to consider playing the Soviet side in an AAR sometime.  I'm still in the learning phase and talents like this might give us new guys some tips about how to do the Soviet side.  But this is a good game so far.  Keep up the good work.
