HQ Helper

Post by Beany »

Hi Guys,

What exactly is "HQ Helper" and how do I actually use it? Pardon my ignorance but when I click on it there is nothing available in the pull down menus.

After my previous problems with getting PCO to run I am really enjoying the game. Been playing the Kursk South Campaign long and finding it hard going but really enjoying the experience. Find infantry in buildings and foxholes a bit too hard to force to rout or surpress but otherwise I'm hooked.

Regards,

All I know is I used it once, and it worked. You get extra reinforcements twice during the campaign. If you ask a third time, you get shot. Sorry, I don't remember the exact details of its operation, but search for it in the manual, maybe.

The description of the HQ Helper is in the Random Batlle and Campaign Generator document in the Manuals folder. It says in part:
The HQ Helper allows you to ask for reinforcements, which increases your available points by 25% and also allows an additional bombardment on the enemy forces, which decreases their strength by 25%. For maximum effect if stuck on a scenario, use both and then replay the scenario at the “Easy” level in-game to further reduce enemy forces by another 25%.

But there is more in that document. Hope that helps.

Thanks

I have two random campaigns going and they both show in the dropdowns.

The other confusion is when to use HH? After you lose? After you win? In the middle of a battle? Do you exit the next battle before setup?

Seems like if I don't go on to at least the setup screen, the last autosave is the turn before the battle ends. Unless you save at every phase you don't know for sure which phase will be your last.
Conflict of Heroes "Most games are like checkers or chess and some have dice and cards involved too. This game plays like checkers but you think like chess and the dice and cards can change everything in real time."
