Will I do it right this time? (GC 41 - Stephane (sov) vs Kamil (ger))

I agree, it looks as though the Soviets could cutoff spearsheads in the center and south without much trouble. Not sure if they could hold but even a week or two would make real trouble for Uncle Adolf's boys. Why hasnt Smolensk been taken? Seems like there is ample infantry there to do the job and by allowing the Soviets to hold onto it the supply troubles are made that much more difficult.
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results. Winston Churchill

I disagree. I don't think breaking defences of central corridors is possible at this stage of war. South would be much easier to penetrate, but my hold on the Dnepr crossing is secure. Unfortunately Stephane did stop my supplies by narrowing my position to 2 hexes.
Screen-shots - central and southern spearhead at the end of turn 6.
I agree in one thing, Stephane is far far far to passive in his defence.

Turn 7 - end
Constantly reinforced AGN creeps forward. Its progress is a bit slowed down by cavalry threatening its wings. Next turn I hope for big leap - both pz corpses built-up their supplies.
In the centre I managed to replace some of my forward panzer divisions with infantry. Shortened front by cleaning up Smolensk and Vyazma. I captured crossing across Oka, just in case I will need it soon. One corps did build-up. Overall turn of slow consolidation.
In the south I lost the turn. In the north I got 19, here thanks to my "superior" math skills I again found myself in situation where my HQ was 20 MP from railhead. I widened corridor a bit and push 11th Army a bit forward. Not much for a turn in July.
After 7 turns of fighting Lvov pocket was finally reduced.
Not surprisingly Soviet casualties are terribly low.

Turn 8 -start
Not much new can be said about Stephane's movement. He slows me down by threatening by flanks and swarms me where my line is more loose. Still practically no attacks. That is good.

Turn 8 - end
Major breakthrough in the north. Rested and fully supplied panzer smashed trhough Stephane's defences and crossed Volkhov river.
Not much happened in the centre. Small reorganisation of frontal and armoured units.
In the south it is same old story again. 11th Army advances, rest of forces slowly moves east and tries to maintain supply corridor.
Again my HQ was 20 MP from railhead - I am running out of excuses.
I ended up assigning divisions to infantry corps, doing build-up and then reassigning them back. It exhausted my AP pool.
Will I do it right this time? - well it seems I won't. Again my front line is composed of randomly placed divisions, my math skills are definitely not up to the task and on the top of that Soviet casualties are terribly low.
I fell there is regress since game against Encircled.

Turn 9 - start
Finally there are some good news. Stephane's didn't change his tactics and kept on blocking my positions. It worked for past 4 turns, but situation is different now. I finally managed to create panzer reserves, that have plenty of petrol and are well positioned. AGC and AGS will resume their advance.

Turn 9 - end
Organisation of my troops once again developed into random mix of divisions from different corpses and armies. Turns like that only make it worse.
In the north I consolidated my gains, reduced pocket and brought infantry towards front line.
AGC saw more action. Armoured fist smashed Stephane's defences north of Bryansk and penetrated far enough to seal the pocket. I managed to make only 1 HQ build-up that turn - pz corps north of Bryanks.
In the south story was quite similar. Soviet forces that kept putting pressure on southern part of my corridor were encircled thanks to attacks from north-east and west. In Kharkov area business as usual - Stephane swarms me and I chase him away. To be honest it wears my panzer down really fast.
Hopefully pockets will hold and I will start inflicting more casualties, if not I will face doom rather sooner than later.
