Turn 9
Over view of Campaign so far, before turn 10
1 HQ build up was used by AGN before turn 10
4 HQ build up used by AGC before turn 10.
3 HQ build ups used by AGS before turn 10.
I am trying to stay under the 1 HQ build up per turn, which I have been able to do up to turn 9, which is basically 1/2 the summer offensive.

75% of my tank and mech divisions are at 90% ToW or better and about 75% of infantry divisions are above 85% ToW better. I expect to be close to full strength by the blizzard and fully dug into a 3 deep line of level 3 and 4 forts.

As far as factories go I have been able to destroy or pocket 56 hvy (24%) and 138 AP’s (37%), plus hes had to move allot back. Most of the moved production will not be of any help to him during the winter. I am not really that close to any major centers other then Moscow. I am of course going to be pushing hard to trap what I can asap. I expect an easy winter per the results so far plus based on my other 9 campaigns.

AGN: Clearing of Leningrad and areas to the east have begun.

AGC: Final push for Moscow is set to begin. I am also working on the winter lines north to Leningrad and south to Stalino.

AGS: Rostov was over run, but I withdrew to winter lines. Panzers will be sent North to clear winter lines and 1 corps to Crimea.

Arstavidiois has at times fought hard building up forces in front of my spearheads, but on other turns retreated. He has also cut of my spearheads several times and bloodied my panzer divisions. Most players go all in or all retreat. Hes tried to balance the 2 and save what he could, but I don’t believe its worked all that well so far. Just my option based on production destoried to date.

I have figured out several more things I could have done better, which I will put into my next campaign. I really like this game, I feel like I am a total newbie still when it comes to game mechanics. I still have no idea how to transfer support units between armies and corps [&:]

I will have a good size up-date this weekend RL will be busy the next 4 days.

Click on the support unit from the HQ detail screen, then click on the name of its current HQ. It will pop up a list of available HQs to transfer it to.

Thanks for help Mynok

Larry as far as me playing Russia it will not happen for a while.

Poeple like Tarhunnas, Hoooper and Flaviusx to name a few know allot more then I ever will about playing the SHC.

They give great advice, but poeple just don't listen until its to late.

I still spend time readings the AAR's ect learning what I can, every little thing adds up to better results. Its not like I started playing and have done anything that different then what has alrdy been done.

I am sure their are better poeple then me that play the GHC. Hoooper stopped me during 1941 hes kinda new to the game, but I have a feeling hes spent allot of time reading AAR's like myself.

Thanks again Larry for the game, if you like playing the SHC watch and learn from the best players.

You're welcome. We'll have to do it again sometime after I learn how to handle the Soviet side better.

AGN:As far as factories go I have been able to destroy or pocket 58 hvy (25%) and 141 AP’s (38%). Losses are very light for both sides. 350,000 Geerman and 1.9 million Russian.
The north is basicly done. I have some mopping up to do, but its basicly done other then setting up my winter lines.
I transfered most of the mech units to the center. This area of the front will be boring for the mext 24 months

AGS: The south has gone much better then I could have hoped for. I have crushed allmost all the factories I could have possibly gotten to. No real resistance yet.

Most of my mech units are near full ToW. I will probably try to bag some units during winter. I have already started digging into my winter lines.

I should have time to clear the Crimea.

I capped Rostov then pulled back.

Well done Pelton.

Too bad you pulled back from Rostov.

Check page 148 of the rule book about Germany AGS re-designation. If you had captured Azov, Bataysk, and Manych (three small towns very close to Rostov), then you would have triggered Army Group B activation. This is huge for the Germans as it allows them to get one of their most overloaded army groups (south) fixed. I have not been able to do it, but I have to think such a thing can only help with the logistics and command situation down there and especially over the first winter.

Thanks for info Klydon. I am ignorant still of many things. I am still not sure of how many units I should have per corps, army ect.

Mynok I like to try to take Leningrad and push my lines east to Lake Onega. Logistics suck out there, but the Finnish dont seem to care and the line is short.
Then basicly to some wheres east of Moscow/Tula/Orel/Kursk/Kharkov/Stalino to the sea. I like to clear Crimea also. Moscow is not a must but does seem to put a dent in the man power numbers and rail.

So far when I have been able to get to this line, my opponents surrender during the blizzard because of a weak winter O or during the summer because of hvy losses. They see no point in playing out the game because they see the writing on the wall or think they do anyways.

I don't expect to VP anyone, but to put them out based on economics. Just as The Germans were hoping to do. I plan on playing every game for the full 225 turns. I don't look down on anyone for dropping out early, because of all the time involved to play out the last 3 yrs.

Thats why I push so hard for my objectives early in the game. I lose allot of tanks, equipment ect, but I lose them in exchange for 10000's of Russian tanks/guns that I will never see on the battle field, 1,000,000's of men that I never have to fight over the following 4 yrs. I will exchange a few 100 tanks and 250,000 men for that anyday.

The Russian players that run for the hills are saving 1.5 million men an a bunch of junk equipement during 1941, but are losing out on 4 or 5 times that number over the next 4 yrs.

Sabre21 and others are 100% right when they say that running never works, because they seen it tried many many times in the past. The only games you see where the Russian player wins is when they fight for every inch of ground, trading troops for space and time. Its allot harder strategy, but its the only one that works.

If I kill 5 million men and don't put a dent in Russian production I will probably lose the war in the long run. If I only kill 2 million men but put a hurting on the Russian econmy I will probably win in the long run.

Arstavidios could have saved far more production, but hes failed to put up even a minor fight all along the front other then around Leningrad. He will counter my tanks from time to time, but then retreat when he could have made me lose a turn. Hes seemed afriad of exchanging 200,000 men now for 1,000,000 later.

This game is basicly just a huge chess game, poeple need to think many many turns ahead. I will exchange my knight for your queen any day [8D]

AGC around Moscow. The first area where any real fighting has taken plase. I am tring to get to moscow before snow, but the Russians are putting up a first class fight. Moscow is not a must, but I try to take it. I am very happy with all the industry I have already destroyied or caused him to move. My tank numbers are kinda low, but it really dont matter. I have had less and they all get replaced by next summer with better tanks. Kinda why I throw caution to the wind and drive as hard and fast as I can for the first 10 turns.

Infantry tows are amazing high allong the front other then the 9th Army. I will turn off all replasements during 2 mud turns other then them and this should solve that problem. The high infantry tows is generally a side effect of the panzer spearheads, which really makes a big difference during blizzard fighting.

This area will need some TLC soon.

AGS Digging in basicly. He did a nice job keeping me out of Crimea, I make a solid push during winter and try to clear it out next Summer. No real reason to waste units now down there.

I am closely following T vs Q-balls game and this one.

The differences so far between the 2 are.

Tarhunnas has done better in the center, destoryed more units and factorys.
I have done better in the south and destoryed more AP and HVY units. I beleive my loses are less then his also.

Tarhunnas has destoryed

51 Armaments only 14%
29 Heavy Industry 13%

I have destoryed

141 Armaments 38%
58 Heavy Industry 25%

We both advanced about at the same speed in the north and center. I advanced much faster in the south. He bagged Moscow and I didn't.

Be interesating to see how both play out to see whats more important.

He will have gotten the bigger rail cap hit on the Russians as well from sacking Moscow. I wonder how the Russians stand on manpower production between the two games as well?

I also think you are in better shape going into mud with your lines. Tarhunnas has some major issues to deal with around the Crimea where you have the Russians backed into the bottlenecks.

Yes I be very interested in the manpower also. Judging from past games when i take Moscow like vs Larry his manpower was down to 2440.

So I guess that in this game the manpower is about 2600, which is still good. Anything under 2700 I would consider good and under 2500 great.

I try very hard to have striaght lines for the winter and L3 forts atleast. It looks like I have allot of reserver divisions this game so expect zero breakthoughs.

I am guessing the loss of 140ish AP and the HVY pts is really going to put a hurting on his units as far as CV's goes. It has in my past games I am guessing it be no different for this one.

He saved allot of his factories and some of his HVY, but ignored his aps totally. I thk as the russian player you need to keep a balance.

Yes what T did around Moscow was very good. Put my attack to shame [&:]

AGC pulled back from Moscow. I figured there was just no point in tring to take it.

Digging in several lines thick, hes got his best units in area so I make sure defences are more then rdy for winter in center.
