Battered Bastards US Set Up Question

I'm happy with the US set up around Bastogne but they are all "Waiting" orders and not Defending. I assume Waiting is not a good mode to be in (seems I saw in the manual somewhere) but if I change to Defend they will leave their nice Dug In positions and move to something else and Dig In all over.

Am I missing something here or a strategy to deal with this? I know In-Situ will keep them in place but In-Situ has defense penalties associated with it.

As for me, I Defend In-Situ and take the penalties; it's not a big issue.

A third option is to edit the Estab formation table to reduce or eliminate the penalty for in-situ. The proposed table for the patch was posted by Arjuna recently - you could just give yourself a headstart.

Thanks guys. Just making sure I wasn't missing something other than the In-Situ issue. Having the 101st start at Defend from the beginning of the scenario would fix it too I suppose.
