I understand the frustrating situation, I guess everybody here with PBEM experience does.
But the game gets most interesting if something out of the usual happens, thats where
it begins to shine.

Pushing Japan back without CV support can be an interesting game.

Since I've conceded the original campaign, and we're moving back about six weeks to the point where I must have lost my presence of mind, this AAR will continue under a new title: "War in the Pacific as the Japanese Planned It"

Without a fleet, it takes about a year to get interesting again. It's worse than it sounds--pretty much the entirety of the modern Allied warships are currently pinned against Northern Australia, with the most of the Combined Fleet moving in to sink them. The assumption moving into that position is that six modern Allied CVs with about 400 aircraft and four large land airfields with 250 aircraft could hold their own defensively against 12 Japanese CVs/CVLs with about 500 aircraft. It turned into a turkey shoot.

great stuff
however, as a almost constant japanese player, what happens if Japan loses all its Carriers in 42?

re do's are great, if both agree, but you never get to mid 44, or further, and 43 is always great fun
big seas, fast ships, life tastes better with salt
