We are doing a great job with resources. The DEI is being effectively drawn down of all types of material, soon we will move into more of a maintenace/balance mode. More TK's (converted from Cargo vessels) will soon come on line. Oil is stockpiling nicely at Singapore and Haiphong, but the big tankers are still mostly being used to get fuel across to the SWPAC front.

Even Burma is being pulled down nicely, the focus here has been oil and resources, allowing fuel to build up to support the fleet. But that fuel will now be pulled down as the extra tankers come online.

The situation around Ceylon...

Burma

Mandalay is main forward base, everything north of here will be a delaying action.

The main defensive line will be back at Toungoo though, in the forest, hence it is being built hard.

At this stage our aim is to disrupt their build up, and attempt to deny key forward bases (such as Akyab). We aren't sure how long we can do that for. Having chased away the Brit fleet though we can use our fleet to hit from the sea, that won't help if they shift their thrust line to the inland though, we simply don't have the airforce capable of supressing more than one base at a time.

Overall there is about 2000 AV in Burma at the moment, but the biggest bases are only around 300. We are moving armour here as a priority (there are already 4 TK Regt and 2 Cav units in the area).

AV is inadequete, however that is about to change when a second Air Div and more BF arrive (there is the 5th Air Div and a Flotilla here at the moment).

Kusaie will be the hub and with Ponope the main line of resistance before TRUK. Having said that as you can see we have dug in nucely on the outlying Islands, all of which will require a two divisional assault.

We are currently pulling resources out of Nauru while we can.

Tony and I have been having interesting discussions over the air defence of Burma. I tend to spread out and "save for a rainy day". He tends to mass and hit hard once, then rest.

In this case I think his tactics are far better, this turn we are going mostly his way....

The undetected 3BB TF (with Tanaka in charge) will hit Chittagong... likely to be lots of mines, it is a risk, but if we get in it will wreck his airfield, hopefully breaking up his attacks tomorrow, which should get slaughtered on our CAP trap over Mandalay... well thats the theory anyway!

The appearance of this TF off Horn Is is tactically unexpected... On an operational scale activity here is expected. We are geeting strong indicators and warnings in this area of the map, the question is will they head to the SWPAC, or will they head to Merauke and free the route to Darwin. Tony thinks the former, I think the later. Both have similar preconditions, the neutralisation of Port Moresby, howver this activity at Horn Island is I think starting to favour the later. We are developing an operational plan to counter both moves...
