Well done young Mr McIllroy [&o] - time for bed now [:)]

He's been fantastic so far, and what a great show of mental toughness to bounce back from The Masters final day collapse so well! The kid is so damned likable, too! [:)]

Once again, I have proven to myself that I apparently know absolutely nothing about the game of hockey or about observing goaltenders, despite being the father of one for the last 5 years.  Alex played his butt off again this weekend, but alas, will be relegated to playing in a local house league.  I'm very proud of him! [8D]

The only thing more pathetic than quoting oneself on THE THREAD is when one's efforts at really bad puns go unnoticed. [;)]

I noticed it, but not until now, as I just got home a short while ago. Have patience, young grasshopper. [:D]

Huff/Duff comes along in War Period 2 (about summer of 1940) and makes it more difficult to assemble Wolfpacks. If you mess up the dice roll enough, the U-Boat calling in other boats can be attacked and sunk because of it. Sounds very realistic to me.

Enigma starts "decaying" (it's a dice roll modifier in the game) and loses effectiveness. You can make a political request to upgrade it from 3- to 4-rotor Enigma which restores it's effectiveness a bit.

Radar is folded into the advance of the game, in as much as it becomes more difficult for U-Boats to move about as the game goes on, and enemy escorts and aircraft become deadlier.

The game ends at the end of the fourth week of April 1943, so there's nothing beyond that.
Pity. IIRC May 1943 was a very black month for the Kriegsmarine underseebooten. I wonder if the exclusion of anything after April was an allusion to there just being nothing but "the void" for submariners to look forward to.

Well, the game is called "Vol. 1", so maybe there's thoughts of a second box. Not much fun as a solitaire game, I would suspect.

Possibly not, but that's what you get for being the baddies!

I guess that vol.2 could feature different mechanics, thus making April 1943 a logical place to pause.

Watching Series 1 of Dads Army on DVD. Got some nice chiccies* and the Game of Thrones books in a boxed set.

*Should be choccies, Mrs P has yet to present some chiccies. And is unlikely to do so.

Good choice. I'm partway through the set myself.

Couldn't resist any longer and, well, it is Father's Day, so I have treated myself to the British Pacific Fleet book [:)]. Shouldn't have really as my book spending has been a little excessive of late, but, as I keep telling the girlfriend, I'm worth it.....[;)]
