Friendly fire from stuka strike.

Post by duncan007 »

For the second time, in the third battles of a campaign game, my stuka strikes my own armoured vehicles.
In the previous fight it was 2 PZ IVF killed and now 3 SDKFZ burning.
In both cases no enemy target near my troops so what's the hell are those stukas are fighting with ?

I am also (meaning running the beta) Playing a campaign, twice now the only major losses I've had were due to my own Stukas. I've since decided they are more a liability than an asset and won't "buy" them. I have had them kill enemy forces too, so they don't bomb my friendly forces all the time by any means. They do it enough however, and are lethal enough when it does happen for it not to be worth the risk in my mind, to have them.

Air strikes in the game can certainly target friendly units, that's built into the design. However, we did find a targeting bug which we've fixed and that should help them be more effective against enemy targets as well. Also, the more experienced the pilot, the less the chance of a mistake leading to an attack on friendly forces.

Thanks Erik,
I know 'friendly fire' did (and does) happen. I'll give the Stukas another chance at glory. I do look forward to occasionally seeing the Sturmoviks attacking the Soviet forces in the future.
