Turn 14 - start

Not much can be said about Soviet moves - small adjustment here and there, plus exploiting gaps in my defence. In parts of the front (Moscow approaches) this tactics seems to be good one and slowly attrition and constant fighting lowers strength of my units to level that make further attack virtually impossible.

I apologise for not doing enough recon before taking screen-shots.

Turn 15 - start

I accidentally overwritten files, so data for my moves in turn 14th was lost.

Situation in AGN and AGS area didn't change much. In the north Leningrad pocket is being reduced, while in the south AGS slowly untangles itself from "cleaning duties" (liquidating Kiev pocket). Only AGC advances, but fortunately does it in good style - cauldron between Kaluga and Tula is really nice.

Turn - 15 end

In the north I am focused on capturing Leningrad before mud, all other actions are of secondary importance.

AGC with help of half of AGS panzers creates vast but rather empty pocket east of Kursk. Simultaneous strike north of Vyazma is only partially successful.

Not much can be done in AGS area, so I satisfied myself with disruptive raid south east of Stalino.

Game ends here - Stephane surrendered.

It is really change of fortune - around turn 8, I though I would loose. Stephane's initial tactics worked perfectly and paralysed my offensive actions completely. If he had reorganised defences in time I would have surely been beaten,

To start with, Stephane was too passive - I was barely attacked at all, so I could roam as I was pleased. Second mistake was lack of flexibility - his initial strategy was good, and worked well. My flanks were long and his forces blocking me too strong and to well positioned to pocket them in one turn. His frequent intrusions were real problem for me. But ones my supply improved and I managed to recreate strike force he should have change to more orthodox approach - keeping depth and withdrawing from exposed position. His first line of defence was strong, but once broken there was nothing to stop panzer from deep penetration, and no forces to de-block pocket from outside

+1

That was what I was thinking.

I thought the Germans were in some serious trouble from how long the front was and what mud was going to do to all those Germans hanging out all over the place.

I think I would have at least played it through winter to see what would have happen.

Either way, congrats on a nice win!

+1 Must be a case of player morale collapse. Not uncommon. Well played.

I have to acknowledge that my moral was very down[:(] ... but:

- there was another 2 turns of good weather
- in the north Leningrad was lost.
- in the center, Moscow was about to be lost.
- In the south Stalino was lost... and I had almost nothing left to save Rostov or Crimea.
- My industries in Kharkov and Leningrad were lost (very bad thing for my armored troops renaissance!!!)
- My losses were more than 5 times the Axis losses
- The few of my good units left were encircled, scattered on wide spaces or in useless position

So with a strong Axis and a very weakened Red Army... I don't thing I could have done much even in Blizzard.

Admit this was a lot!!!

Kamil gave me a good lesson and a good piece of advice: try and play the Axis to become a better Soviet player... that's what I am currently doing... and realize that it is far more funny (I am on T9) :)... I also discover a lot of things I was not aware of and that possibly could have helped me a bit in this game against Kamil...

I'll be back soon as a tougher Soviet player... hopefully. Thanks to Kamil for this AAR.
