I ran outta AP's so I haven't replaced them with a ground combat unit yet. They are slated to park themselves in ports along the coast when I get a chance to move them again.

I just basically believe that they should be disbanded around the time of the 1941 blizzard; they put a load on the HQs, don't fight so well when you need something better than ants, can't be used to build up into larger units, don't convert into Guards, and use up men/equipment that larger units always need ( riflemen and MGs ).

Basically I agree with all of that. The AI will probably not invade via sea but I'd feel better if I had SOMETHING sitting on those coastal ports and the SEC units can be reassigned to Stavka and if it weren't for the SEC units I'd have to build a brigade or something to do the same job. The SEC units are nearby, and available, so I thought I'd just use them while I could.

That's good to hear. I can do without an enemy amphib invasion just fine.

Um........I'm not doing all that well on my PBEM games and so I thought I'd practice against the Axis AI to see what sort of tactics
works best and so I have some AAR turns that somebody might want to download. I'm thinking of the playtesters primarily but
others might find them interesting as well. I have built these AAR's as html documents with a menu on the left side and the main
display on the right so that if you don't want to see the numbers you don't have to. Those of you who are familiar with my AAR's
know that I love moving pictures ( gif animations ) and especially BIG pictures. I have lots of those. You can download them from here:

AAR Turn 1
AAR Turn 2
AAR Turn 3
AAR Turn 4
AAR Turn 5
AAR Turn 6

EDIT July 2, 2011 added turns 7 throu 10:
AAR Turn 7
AAR Turn 8
AAR Turn 9
AAR Turn 10

EDIT: July 7, 2011: added AAR turns 11 throu 20:
AAR Turn 11
AAR Turn 12
AAR Turn 13
AAR Turn 14
AAR Turn 15
AAR Turn 16
AAR Turn 17
AAR Turn 18
AAR Turn 19
AAR Turn 20

Here's what the breakthrough looks like in T89. I'm pushing north at the same time as swinging around the end of his line trying to block the escape of his dudes. And the good news is that there are Axis Allied dudes which don't reconstitute ( that's my understanding anyway ). So once they are gone, they are gone. I gotta get 'em now while I have the chance. I wish the railroad went all the way to where my dudes are now but alas, it doesn't. D'oh.

Here's the railroad shot that displays how useless it is to the Soviets right now.

To get those rail lines working you'll have to link them up from your forces coming waayyyyy from the east.  Those Hungarians might be fun to attack.

What is odd is that the rail in Kerch is showing fully active, it is only 'broken' further West.

One thing you could try to use is the fact that ports count as supply sources.

If you can capture Ochakov (the port southwest of Nikolaev) It would give your offensive further steam. You could try amphibious landings there. Same thing further to the east at Osipenko and Mariupol. If he doesn't have them garrisoned you could unhinge his entire southern front.

The map mod made by redmarkus is very useful for seeing ports, etc. link.

Thanks for the link. I downloaded it and it's fully in use now.

I guess that the breakthrough is over with. He railed some people in to bolster the front lines and my dudes are not concentrated anymore and the combat strength is diluted by being spread out now so it looks like the advance is overwith. It was just getting started good too. Here's a view of the T90 breakthrough area:

You might want to reorganize the HQ assignments of the those units, so you aren't paying those 10 or 25 percent CV penalties.

Yeah, Larry, your units are completely intermingled, not a good idea. Not only because of the combat deductinons, but it gets harder to keep units within 5-hex range for support units, reserves, etc. I know things can get a bit mixed up during attacks, but you should really try to keep the colors together more.

Moreover, in that small space, you have units from THREE seperate fronts (Southern, Caucausian, Transcaucasion?)...sure seems like you'd be better off having ONE front down there, with the others concentrated elsewhere.
