Same here. I am grateful that when I wake up in the morning, I can get out of bed and stand up. A good many people can't. A good many family, friends and business associates are horizontal, six feet under. In recent years I have had three really close friends - two of them are gone. Why I have outlasted them is not for me to know or understand. I accept it for what it is.

Bill Mauldin, I think it was, in his "Up Front" book relates a scene he came upon: The GI was sitting in his foxhole, observing himself wiggling his fingers. He was simply happy to be able to move anything after the last German attack.
