No sound effects

Just bought the game, installed fine and I started the tutorial campaign.
I get music, but no sfx at all. Same thing happened with Panzer General Forever.
Am I missing some sort of codec/player or something?
Please help a frustrated customer.

Thanks for your quick reply Erik. As mentioned the only other game I`ve had this problem with
is Panzer General Forever. Music, but no sound effects. I have attached my dxdiag file.
I play the *.wav files perfectly fine with WindowsMediaPlayer. But not when in Panzer Corps.

Game's log file might help as well. It is located in %My Documents%\My Games\Panzer Corps\Log\log.txt.

Aha! It seems there is a problem: "Error: 'A problem occurred in initializing MCI.' (code: 277)"
What is MCI?

Edit: It seems the intro plays, but shows no video, only audio.

MCI is the Media Control Interface in Windows. This should all work by default, as far as I know. Is it possible you could have uninstalled some default codecs or drivers? Do you have any extra codec packs installed that could have messed with these?

MCI is closely connected to your sound card drivers, so reinstalling those may fix this.

Installing or reinstalling the latest Windows Media Player and DirectX may also help, as those can impact MCI.

As a matter of fact, I have been screwing around with the codecs to get another game to work.
I will try to reinstall what you have suggested and see if it works then.

Alright then. After reinstalling directx, soundcard drivers and media player and it still didnt work I ended up
downloading zoom player. With that player I was able to download a bunch of different codecs.
When those were downloaded and installed I started Panzer Corps again and voilà.. SFX!
