Unit Upgrade Cost

Just going through the tutorial, usually when I try to upgrade tanks (or any other unit) into a newer model I have to pay the FULL price for the upgrade, so I even don´t get back anything for the scrap metal (no recycling those days [:D]).

I just started the scenario in June 1939 where you get the BF109e and the PzIIIe and PzIVD. All upgrades still cost the full amount, EXCEPT upgrading the Pz38t(E) into the PzIIIe, which only costs 29!!! (price tag difference between the two models).

Is this OK?

I noticed that too. But I also noticed that the upgrade cost seems to work right when you upgrade to a unit that is somehow "relative" to the original, somehow as a part of a logical succession. For example, I noticed that it works fine when you upgrade from the 105 LeFH18 to the 155 sFH18 and from the Me110C to the Me110D. If this is intentional from the part of the developers, in order to keep you from creating an unrealistically strong core force from the early scenarios, I must admit I like the idea. But in this case I would like a list to inform us which units are so "connected" to others. If it's an omission, let's hope it's going to be fixed [:)]

You get cheaper upgrades when upgrading down the same unit path but not when upgrading to a different type. E.g. Panzer IIIJ to Panzer IIIM gets a reduced rate, but not to a Tiger I.

Should there not some prestige return? Not that it's like the old tanks/equipment is thrown into the sea. Even a old PanzerI may redeployed to Police units are be refitted as weapon carrier. Well I guess it's too later for changes now as you have designed and balanced the campaign to work this way, but maybe for the feature.

Even paying full boat for an upgrade, the “full” price is still a screaming deal.  Firstly, you effectively get a “new” unit with experience.  How much is that worth?  Secondly, upgrading a unit in being doesn’t use up a core slot.  Spare slots are worth their weight in, ah, weight in… Oh yeah! Prestige!
