True, but carriers seldom carry more than two Recon birds . And as it's original role (End of the world strategic nuke bomber) , how many do you need aboard?

Heh, during the cold war you needed aircraft to do 1 of 2 things:

1. Deliver the world ending ordnance to a target.
2. Shoot down any plane attempting mission #1.

Part of the UK social contract during WWII was the promise that after the war, the sacrifices would be repaid--NHS, nationalisation of a number of industries, etc. That laid the foundation for where the UK is now.

The Empire was broke before the war and had a real challenge on its hands as it accumulated wartime debt. My memory is the last of the debt was paid off in the 70s.

IIRC, structurally they are two different situations.

The British war debt was dedicated debt created for a specific purpose. It was direct country to country (or Treasury to Treasury) debt.

The American Treasury notes/bonds are generic issue purchasable by the private sector. Such debt is most commonly not paid off but rolled over in the future at which point in time the effect of inflation has acted as a back door means of reducing the real value of the debt.

i might have to dust off the old joy stick and reload that game. I knew there was a mod out there that allowed the addition of planes that the IL2 people were not going to put in. I loved flying in that game.

Indeed, the 109 a long ways from home and involved in gas guzzling maneuvers runs out of gas. [8|]

Don't say that about the Fulmar there are a number of FAA aces that scored half or more of thier initial kills in the Fulmar a few even mixing it up with the Me109's or some of the hot rods Italian fighters, let alone some of those bombers.
Just like there is a USCG pilot (Lt. Casey Quinn USCG Aviator) who scored a kill against a NVAF MiG in Vietnam war while flying a C-130, it isn't the plane but the pilot.

With all due respect, great pilots don't let a plane with superior speed and manuevability get on their six!. And Fulmar rear seaters don't have defensive swivel machine guns. If this were a Defiant , I might agree with you, but from the looks of the painting, your pilot (and his backseater) are about to get turned into hamburger. [:D]
