SPWaW Gamer Needs Help!!

Post by Figmo »

I'm trying to help a guy that downloaded the whole game but the VID998.smk file got corrupted. I can't e-mail that 57MB file to him and he isn't looking forward to downloading the whole game again. Soooo, Would it be possible for one you guys with a Web Site to upload it for a few days so he and maybe other gamers can download it?

It would be greatly appreciated!! Image

Well I'd try it just because I'm new to this web site thing. My provider however only lets me upload files much smaller than this. I do have another site for storage I was going to tie into the site but the max I can have there is 25megs. If anyone can tell me how I'll give it a try.

Couldn´t you zip it so it is only 25 Meg?

You can try zipping it, but zipping often doesn't do a whole lot for file formats that already incorporate data compression, and in bizarre cases it can make things worse, so definitely check the results before sending it.

Thanks guys for the input. My problem is - if I can't get it down to around 2MBs then I can't help him. And I don't have a CD burner.

Hopefully, one of the guys with a site - maybe even Matrix - can post it.

Why don't you use a file-splitting utility? You can cut-up the file into any number of more manageable chunks and send it over one by one.

Another thing to try is to find and download *any* Smacker format (.smk) video file (say 2-3 MB) and then rename it to VID998.smk. Note that this *could* be possibly a breach of your license agreement, because the game credits are on that video, but you could do it as a temporary measure until you get the original file.

Of course, a CD-R is a much easier solution.

I like the second idea best!! Image

I'll just tell him to copy and rename one of the other SMK files that are in the SND\STREAM directory until he can get the right file.

Thanks again to all for the help!!
