A good JAAF OOB Source

Post by Howard Mitchell »

Just picked up an excellent book called 'Japanese Army Air Force Fighter Units and their Aces, 1931-1945' by Hata, Izawa and Shores, published by Grub Street and available through Amazon.

It is divided into three sections - a history of the JAAF fighter force, a list of all unit (including plane types flown and base locations, both by date) and then brief biographies of the leading aces. It's rounded off with maps, losses tables and the like.

Might be of interest for someone who was designing a wargame covering the whole Pacific theatre for example. :)
While the battles the British fight may differ in the widest possible ways, they invariably have two common characteristics – they are always fought uphill and always at the junction of two or more map sheets.
