Controlling Scouts?

Okay, how do you guys control your scouts?

Mine go EVERYWHERE except where I want them to go...!

I control by spamming tons of them...eventually they'll get to where I want also.
Why is this on the modders section?

tjhkkr - do you mean exploration of solar systems or keeping an eye on other races? The first one is easy -sacrifice one, set him on manual control, mark under 1-9 to be able to quickly find it, and send it wherever you want. The second option is much harder, especially if you are not interested in micromanagement. I sometimes change scouts behaviour while making the design so that they don't run every time an escort is attacking them. Other way is to make new design solely for spying on other empires, which would include advanced proximity sensors (NOT long range scanners) and stealth module. Put a scout on manual and place it just outside enemys system. They can't detect it with thier scanners and you can observe until scouts fuel runs out.

Even better, if it's stationary and can be put at the rim of the star system than you can use collectors and have it stay there forever. It's waht I do but with LRS on scouts, find a good system in the middle of a enemy cluster / sector and plant it there. Way better than a monitoring station, awacs in space.

Oh, I have Intell Vessels...
Complete with long range sensors, fast as a thief... those work very well, and as Data says, with all the energy collectors I put on them, they last a while.

I am talking about exploration of new systems. I have manually moved them to a star cluster (I tend to play cluster galaxies), and then automate the from there? Do they stay in that cluster?
NOT[:D]
They will track all the way back across the galaxy to some now very distant cluster to search...
Meanwhile back at the ranch, there are 5 pirate bases, 2 new empires, and who knows what else in the unexplored cluster just waiting to attack...[:D]

Yap, explorers make our lifes so....interesting. But given the feel of this game it's always a pleasure for me to take manual control of them when needed.
