13 Assassins

If you are in the mood for an excellent Samurai movie, I want to draw your attention to the recentl dvd release of 13 Assassins. It is a kindred spirit to the Seven Samurai but much more brutal and the town, for the 45 minute final battle scene, isn't defended but used as a trap. Great acting all around, and even better if you watch in the original language with sub titles rather then the emotionally divorced English dub. The fight scenes try to remain within the parameters of what Human beings can do, so there is no Couch Potato Hidden Dragoon/Matrix fly-bys here. I also recommend to check out the deleted scenes as there is one truly hilarious scene that the Japanese censors would not allow in the final cut!
Hey, any movie that uses flaming bulls as a weapon gets a thumbs up in my book! [8D]
