I have been working on-and-off with Colin on this map.

A mod of Invasion Amerika, Fall Grau, or Falotti's 1945 Axis Invasion scenario?
A Salerno scenario sounds cool. In the spirit of your post, this city plays a significant role in an upcoming scenario I'm working on with Felix & L'zard.

Felix? Industry icons? It must be Turtledove-related. Is the city Washington D.C.?

I'm working on a scenario loosely based on the early Hellenistic period, but with a twist. Unfortunately, progress has been glacial and I've lost maps to fill-to-border gaffes more than once. I should be able to finish it before the end of this summer. Don't worry Bill, your efforts won't have been in vain!

Nope, it's Philadelphia. The City in the SW corner is Wilmington. Here's an overview map.

Unless Jeremy reappears to do so, I'll be making at port of Fall Grau. The scale should change the way the scenario plays completely.

Colin has ideas for his own counterfactual scenario along the same lines.

That's great news Ben. I'm still playing an old version of FG and enjoying it, but I'm sure it could be made better.

Operation Neva
The Leningrad-Novgorod Strategic Offensive January 1944

Have been working a long time on the this with very slow progress, but in the last couple of months I have really been getting somewhere. Not being a beta-tester, I'm pretty much waiting on v3.4 before starting serious testing.

Wow - glad to hear you're still working on this. :) Then let's hope Ralph et al get their job done soon, this is really something i'd like to get hands on. Regard this a volunteering for testing :)

I started making a variant of the Vietnam conflict that would include North Vietnam, parts of southern China, Laos, and Cambodia of course.  I was doing it mainly because I wanted to model the F-105's in their bombing campaign in NVN. Also, I wanted to give a version of the scenario where you could invade NVN at any time without repercussions. I got about 10% done with the map and gave up.  It wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be.  Not hard just tedious work.

I'm in the playtesting phase of Call to Arms, my American Revolution scenario. It's coming along nicely but I don't know if it'll be done in time for 3.4.

RE: Anyone any scenarios in the cooking..? Europe 1944

Post by governato »

I am making good progress on a substantial rewrite for TOAW III of my scenario Europe '44, covering the whole European theater from June 44 at divisions/corps/weekly turns scale. The scenario takes advantage of a few advanced TOAW features, namely:

- support squads in HQs to regulate the flow of reinforcement to individual formations. As an example if the Allies player choses to implement Market Garden the HQ of Patton's Third Army is replaced with a new one with 70% of its assigned support squads missing. This has the effect of cutting supplies *just* to the Third Army, effectively stopping its drive West until sufficient supply squads come in as replacements, which usually takes a few weeks.

- Instead of having a Red Army infantry replacement rate proportional to the guns and tanks output, manpower replacement rates for the Red Army are linked to its advance West. As certain key locations are reached (Warsaw, Bucurest, Budapest, Riga), large cadre infantry units are disbanded, filling the Red Army infantry replacement pool. This also has the desirable effect of giving an incentive to the Axis player to defend Rumania and Hungary, instead of rapidly withdrawing to the Reich.

These and other features are fairly transparent to the user and should make for
more realistic play.

This new version for TOAW III (3.4) is substantially more balanced with more realistic infantry/AFV loss ratios (I upped the infantry AT capabilities) and should be really fun to play without being a 'monster' scenario. I am currently doing a human vs human play test
before making a beta available to the community and asking or playtesters, probably at the end of August. Here is a snapshot of the Normandy area in mid July 44. I will post a mini AAR in the Scenario design section under 'Europe 44'.
