Questions for the CC Vets: capturing barges

Post by Jagdhund »

It seems like the barges get sobbotaged as soon as an allied unit moves into an area on either side. Is it possible to capture a barge intact? If so, how?

Thanks in advance,

you mean the Ferry crossings?? if you mean the ferry crossings...they should work if you have allied or german bg's on either side, BUT if you move into a map / ferry crossing that has an enemy BG on it..... a battle will happen and the ferry crossing becomes un usabe for any side. the ferry is sunk.

if this is not whats happening then itsa BUG and should be reported to Oddball.

When the ferry (barge) icon has a red X over it, that only means your side cant use the ferry. When you control the maps on both sides of the ferry the red X is removed from the ferry icon and you can use the ferry. If a battle takes place on a map on either side of the ferry, the ferry is considered destroyed and the ferry icon is removed entirely for the rest of the operation/campaign.

The ferry sites can still be used by the allies as assault crossings even when destroyed, right?

Yes, as shown at the bottom of the image below.

Ferry/Assault Crossing icons from the Allied perspective (top to bottom):
1. Both ferry maps under Axis control - Ferry icon with red X (unavailable); Assault crossing icon (available)
2. One ferry map with Allied control, one with Axis control - Ferry icon with red X (unavailable); Assault Crossing icon (available)
3. Both ferry maps under Allied control - Ferry icon (available); No Assault Crossing icon (unavailable)
4. After a battle on one ferry map - No Ferry icon (unavailable); Assault Crossing icon (available)

Somewhat interesting that an Allied assault crossing is available in situation #1 even though no Allied BG is in position to do so. Also that situation #3 removes the possibility of an assault crossing.

At first the X on the ferry icons fooled me into thinking they were destroyed too.
